This week, we're talking about...
Priorities
I'm not one for New Year's resolutions, but I'm a big fan of to-do lists. I usually have a few on my desktop at work, a few on my phone, and at least one physical copy floating around somewhere. But, here's the thing about my own to-do list (and probably yours): Most times, I don't get to cross everything off. And that's OKâin fact, it's probably a given. There are some days where you just feel like you need 12 more hours and a personal assistant to get it all done. So here's my proposed solution: Be mindful of your priorities and edit your to-do list accordingly.
Priorities can shift from time to time, of course, so regularly taking stock of what you want to prioritize these days (Work? Self-care? Your health? Your social life? Your relationship?) will help you look at your massive to-do list with well-informed eyes. Without that added context, we often end up just tackling things in order of urgency or changing focus whenever something new comes up. This can leave us feeling like we're drowning all day and then, at night, feeling like we didn't actually accomplish half of what we set out to do.
So, if you're also not much of a New Year's resolution-er, my advice is to be a little more mindful of your priorities this year. Maybe you're prioritizing your health right now and that means marking your workouts and doctor's appointments as urgent, and moving whatever else can be moved so you can still get to sleep at a reasonable time. Or maybe you're prioritizing work right now because you're aiming for a promotion, and you're willing to let that really dominate your to-do list for a while. As long as you're editing your to-do list with your priorities in mind, you should feel a little more intentional, even on your busiest days.
Make yourself a priority this year. Here are some articles that should help you get stuff done in the process.

[How Much Is Too Much Caffeine? Look Out for These Signs](
Coffee has long been the magic that powers me through my to-do list, but one thing I'm (reluctantly) prioritizing this year is cutting back on caffeine to just one cup a day. Like, one actual cup...not a huge tumbler filled with three servings of cold brew. I'm definitely not saying everyone needs to do that, (as always, talk to your doctor) but here are some signs that you might want to reduce your intake.

[What the Hell Are You Supposed to Do When Your Therapist Goes on Vacation?](
Even the best plans can sometimes fall through. For example: When you commit to taking care of your mental health and then...your therapist has to head out for a while. Try not to let setbacks like this derail you. If it's a priority, you'll find a way to make it work. If you're dealing with an out-of-office therapist, this might help.
