[Image] Saturday Market Update Dear Reader, Welcome to "Saturday Market Update," a quick and easy read that recaps True Market Insidersâ market outlook from the week gone by while helping prepare you for the trading week ahead. Market Recap â June 28th - July 2nd Weâre at the halfway point of 2021, and itâs been a challenging six months in the stock market. Itâs not because profitable investments were hard to come by. As a True Market Insider subscriber, you know thereâs always a money-making opportunity going on somewhere. You just need to find the sectors and stocks or ETFs that are outperforming their peers and the broader market. Better still, you can rely on your TMI editors to do that work for you. Itâs been a challenging market because sectors seem to be rotating in and out of favor quicker than usual. Itâs completely normal for economic cycles, or âblack swanâ events like a pandemic to create movement. If youâll recall, Technology began 2021 like it ended 2020 â stronger than every other major sector. It then pulled back as fears of rising interest rates spooked investors. In the meantime, Commodities rose from the dead and to the top of the heap, before taking their recent respite from record-setting prices. Now, Technology (Software, Telecom, and Internet) and Commodities (especially energy) are regaining momentum as large institutions and hedge funds beef up their positions
within these sectors. You want your money to follow theirs because thatâs where long trends begin. âWhyâ this rapid rotation happens doesnât much matter. What does matter is how you react. And of course you should always adjust your portfolio based on your own financial goals and risk tolerance. This may require that you monitor positions more closely, or switch from offense to defense more often. It could mean pocketing gains or sitting on the sidelines. What it doesnât mean is losing sight of the longer-term picture. So, donât be discouraged or quick to throw in the towel when sectors donât move up in a straight line. Look to the indicators for confirmation. Understand that sector rotation and relative strength is an approach that works... And trust that TMI has your best financial interests at heart. Youâll be hearing plenty more on Technology and Commodities in weeks to come. Remember, the NYSE is closed Monday, July 5, in observance of the July 4 holiday. In the meantime ⦠Happy reading, and enjoy. This Week in True Market Insider...
