Nothing else matters.â These types of absolute statements about SEO bug me. While âthe click is everythingâ may be true for some people doing SEO, there is no Holy Grail âSEO thingâ that matters to every brand or website. What happens after the click has always mattered more to me. Is the content helpful or useful? Does the website offer a satisfying experience? Does your page convert into revenue, a subscription, demo or some other mission-critical business metric? Clicks matter, sure. But you know what else matters? Content optimization. Technical optimization. User experience. Intent. Your brand. Links. Visibility. Making money. You can get a click, sure, but sometimes you can get a worthless click (or many of them). Whereâs the value in getting a click from a person who visits once and never comes back?
