CNET, which admits it is “primarily driven by SEO traffic,” was rightfully criticized for thinking content pruning sends a signal to Google that CNET is “fresh, relevant and worthy of being placed higher” than its competitors and will “improve SEO rankings.” It isn’t that simple.
