SEO success requires experience – and a lot of it. I don’t say this to disparage SEO checklists, any content SEO bloggers write or even the content we (I) publish on Search Engine Land. That is all necessary to gain experience. However, you can’t just follow a set of detailed instructions and see SEO success. SEO success is a multitude of things and requires deeply understanding those checklists and implementing a long-term SEO strategy for your site that adapts and improves as you gain experience. Google’s John Mueller had a [great rant on Twitter](), saying “maybe you should stop reading SEO blogs and instead do something useful for your site & its users?” He is not saying that SEO blogs are bad. His point is that you need to produce something unique on your site. No checklist or third-party blog can tell you how to do that.
