No images? [View Online.]( [Saveur]( [Meringue Floating in Crème Anglaise]( 04/21/2018 I Hear It's Full of Bread Now that spring is here (allegedly), the SAVEUR team is thinking about where we want to go next, and [France (and specifically Paris)]( is always at the top of the list, especially when it comes to food. It seems like they just get everything. Want to deck your house out in [French cookware]( and [pretty but practical French kitchen tools]( So do we. After we stock up on some of those, we’re going to hit the kitchen and make some of our [favorite classic French dishes](. And we’d be crazy to [skip dessert](. So maybe we can’t be there, but we can do everything to pretend we are, right? Here are some things we love (and think we love) about Paris: Somehow I always end up arriving in Europe off a dreaded red-eye flight. It's harsh in some cities where they're not known for their breakfast, and I need something fortifying and soul-warming to bring me back to life. But without a doubt, I can always count on Paris for providing something buttery, flaky, and fattening around every corner. (Now, if only their coffee could measure up to their pastry.) —Stacy Adimando, executive editor When I went to Paris, I had two days there to myself before friends and family arrived, and I have to say, those two days were some of my favorite in any of my travels. I went to a cozy pizza restaurant right under the Sacre Coeur. It was crowded, but they set up a small picnic table just for me, right by the kitchen. They brought me several small pizzas and the wine kept coming, and I never once felt alone. —Katherine Whittaker, digital editor It's one of the most deservedly hyped cities in the world, but Paris isn't just for lovers. It is also one of the most walkable and inviting cities for solo travelers. Bundle up and brave the early morning spring rain–we're months away from beach season and Paris's city center is perfect for walking off the greatest confections in the world. Just about every neighborhood has an outdoor market once or twice a week, so plan your trip to hit a few of them. Grab a baguette on the way and and build a casual picnic lunch from the cheese, charcuterie, and perfect seasonal produce always available in the greenmarkets. Bonus: you can drink wine in public parks. —Kat Craddock, test kitchen manager I've never been but I hear it's full of bread. —Alex Testere, associate editor [The World #039;s Best French Fries]( [Are These The World's Best French Fries?]( [A Caribbean model turned cookbook author makes the best we've ever tasted]( [swedish visiting cake bars]( [How Dorie Greenspan Does New Year's Eve in Paris]( [Every December 31st, the dessert wizard invites a hodgepodge group of old and new friends for a perfect French fête, complete with oysters, gougères, and huge bottles of champagne by the Seine]( [partisan]( [A Parisian Tradition: How the Bistro Got Its Name]( [The history of French bistros]( [Croquembouche]( [Our 48 Best French Desserts So You Can Feast Like A Parisian]( [There's no denying the appeal of a classic French dessert]( [Saveur Subscribe Now]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Instagram]( {EMAIL} is subscribed to receive newsletters from Saveur.
