Orientation Workshop for State Governments of 12 #drought-prone states for preparing proposals for Drought Mitigation under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund as proposed by the XVth Finance Commission was organised at NDMA Bhawan in association with National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA) Department of Agriculture Cooperation & Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India. The XVth Finance Commission has recommended an allocation of Rs. 100 crores each to 12 states from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund. This financial allocation is intended to be utilized by the States for the purpose of Drought Mitigation with a focus at the district and state levels to address the challenges of droughts contributing to drought mitigation efforts. This one-day orientation workshop jointly organized by NRAA and NDMA aimed to 🔘 Inform State Representatives about template for proposals on Drought Mitigation under NDMF as per XV FC recommendations. 🔘 Provide guidance for preparing Drought Mitigation Plans 👉 This Orientation Workshop would help build the capacities of the states in preparing Drought Mitigation Plans to access the funds allocated under NDMF. It would also help in learning from the best practices which are being undertaken/ developed by various states/ institutions. 👉 Stakeholders and participants from Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Watershed Support Services and Activities Network (WASSAN), United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC), Watershed Organization Trust (WOTR) and others were part of the workshop. . Kamal Kishore Member Secretary (NDMA) and Lt. Gen SA Hasnain (Retd), Member, NDMA. 👉 Functionaries and Senior Officials from Odissa Govt, NDRF, Railway Board, Railway Protection Force MHA, Headquarters of the Integrated Defence Staff, DM from Balasore District gave presentations and held deliberations on the mobilization, response and rescue operations, gaps and other issues of concern during the debriefing session. [Main Product Image] 13 July 2023 - Review Meeting of implementation of UAMS and discussion on YAMS (Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme (YAMS) Senior Officials of NDMA held a review meeting with all 36 States/UT’s on progress of implementation of the 'Upscaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme'- UAMS. This was followed by deliberations on the Proposed "Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme" YAMS. [Main Product Image] [Main Product Image] 10th- 14th July 2023 CBRN ToT training course with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport, Kolkata (10th-14th July 2023) NDMA in association with NSCBI, Kolkata Airport organised the five days Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Training of Trainer (TOT) course from 10th -14th July 2023. 👉 The comprehensive training program was attended by stakeholders from NDRF staff and officials at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata with discussion, deliberation on the DM plan, and SOPs for the airport. The overall objective of CBRN ToT training at the airport is to enhance airport personnel's preparedness and response capabilities, ensuring the safety and security of passengers, employees, and infrastructure in the event of CBRN incidents or threats. 👉 This training programme aims to improve CBRN safety at our airports by enabling the AEHs to handle any CBRN emergency. [Main Product Image] [Main Product Image] 18th July 2023 - Meeting on National Disaster Management Information System (NDMIS) platform A meeting on the National Disaster Management Information System (NDMIS) was convened at NDMA Bhawan under the chairmanship of Sh. Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary, Policy and Plan Division. Senior officials from MHA-NIC, NDMA, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, States/UTs, and allied organizations attended the meeting. The primary objective was to comprehend the various mechanisms/systems for capturing disaster loss and damage data and the adoption and corresponding challenges associated with the NDMIS Portal. States have shared their approaches in this regard and the challenges they encounter while using the NDMIS. Senior Members and officials from NDMA held a meeting to discuss and deliberate upon the components/various program activities associated with the implementation of the proposed National Programme on Forest Fire Management (NPFFM). A meeting was chaired by Sh. Kamal Kishore, Member Secretary, #NDMA via VC today to seek views/ comments on the draft Expression of Interest (EOI) and Terms of Reference (ToR) of the project proposal regarding retrofitting of heritage structures in the Indian Himalayan Region to prevent effects of #Earthquake. 👉 The meeting was also attended by Sh. Alok, Additional Secretary, NDMA and Sh. Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary (Policy and Plan), NDMA and the members of the Technical Advisory Group. The project's current status and associated issues have been discussed with the team and the best possible ways to go forward have been discussed. [Main Product Image] [Main Product Image] 19th/21st July 2023 - Table Top cum Mock Exercise on Floods Disaster in Uttar Pradesh NDMA along with the officials and all stakeholders from the state of Uttar Pradesh conducted a Table Top Exercise and Mock Exercise on Floods disasters on the 19th and 21st of July 2023 in which all flood-prone districts of the State participated simultaneously under the chairmanship of Lt Gen (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain, Member NDMA & Co-Chaired by Lt Gen. RP Sahi, Vice Chairman, UPSDMA. 👉 The exercise aimed at exercising key disaster managers in their roles and responsibilities in various simulated emergency situations, particularly on the likely scenarios to be played out in the impending ME, discern gaps prior to the ME and evolve viable response plans. [Main Product Image] [Main Product Image] 22nd July 2023 - Valedictory Ceremony of Training of Aapda Mitra Volunteers under Upscaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme by SDMA Chandigarh and MGSIPA Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) and SDMA Chandigarh culminated its comprehensive training programme of Aapda Mitra Volunteers under Upscaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India with a grand valedictory ceremony today The event was graced by Shri Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary, NDMA, Shri Nitin Kumar Yadav, Home Secretary, Chandigarh, Shri Vinay Pratap Singh, DC, Chandigarh; Shri Gulshan, CGM, MGSIPA and Shri Amit Kumar, ADC; faculty members; instructor and Aapda Mitras. A total of 54309 Aapda Mitras and Sakhis successfully completed the training programme. The programme served as a platform for the volunteers who came together from varying and diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas and learn together from a panel of expert faculty and instructors.
