The party's official platform rejects Biden's win over BS claims about "substantial election fraud." It also calls for lawmakers to hold a referendum on whether the state should secede from the U.S. and become an "independent nation." What else? The party called to repeal the Voting Rights Act, which banned racial discrimination in voting. The Texas GOP also called to repeal federal taxation powers, all gun control laws, and abolish the Federal Reserve. The party also labeled homosexuality an "abnormal lifestyle choice," and barred a group of gay Republicans from participating in the convention. "The Texas GOP doesn't want to return to the 1950s," wrote New York Times columnist James Surowiecki. "It wants to return to the 19th century."
