They're not being held accountable for the Capitol Riot none Your daily update from [Salon](~/AASU4wA~/RgRjyoJSP0QWaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuc2Fsb24uY29tL1cDc3BjQgph4FT952FxVyEwUht0cmlzdHJhbWJhbGR3aW44NUBnbWFpbC5jb21YBAAAACg~). none Voters aren’t blaming Republicans for the Capitol riot Over the long weekend, Gallup released a poll that sent a shock wave through Democratic circles: There's been a 14 point swing in party preference from Democratic to Republican in the past year. While 49% of Americans leaned Democratic and 40% leaned Republican in January 2021, at the beginning of 2022, the parties have nearly reversed positions. Now 47% of Americans prefer Republicans while a mere 42% prefer Democrats. Salon’s Amanda Marcotte breaks down the burning question: Why? President Joe Biden is being blamed for the pandemic lingering on, for starters, and many of his legislative priorities are stalled in Congress. But she also points to the ongoing failure to indict the major political leaders of January 6’s Capitol riot for the GOP’s current reputational upswing. Boston concerning a "Christian flag," which many Americans saw for the first time when it was paraded through the Capitol by rioters on Jan. 6. The case turns on complicated constitutional questions about the interplay of the First Amendment's clauses concerning free speech and the government establishment of religion, but it also speaks to the growing prominence of Christian nationalism — with its highly dubious claim that the U.S. was founded as a Christian nation, and that Christians should therefore enjoy a privileged place within it — and its demands for public accommodation. And, he argues, in none of these events was race in any way a peripheral or irrelevant issue. "It is simply factual to describe Jan. 6 as a white supremacist attack on multiracial democracy. But if one were to rely on the consensus of America's mainstream news media on the one-year anniversary, one might come away with the belief that racism and white supremacy played little or no role in the events of that day." (Photo by Kent Nishimura/LA Times via Getty Images) none In defense of the overlooked Kristen Stewart Culture writer Alison Stine declares she’s “a latent Kristen Stewart apologist” in her defense of the former star of the “Twilight” movies, in which Stewart always “appeared like the best performer in a school play, desperately trying to act her way onto other, better stages.” In her latest starring role, as Princess Diana in “Spencer,” Stewart is in danger of being overlooked for major awards. “That would be a mistake,” Stine argues. “Misogyny and homophobia have trailed her, but the criticism about Stewart also often seems grounded in mischaracterization as to what the craft of acting entails, how the most restrained performances can sometimes be the most powerful. Stewart is understated in almost all of her roles, small in her motions . . . and big in her emotions.” Read more about why the Oscars — and the rest of us — need to pay more attention to Stewart’s understated craft. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA, suggested that unvaccinated people currently face “discrimination,” similar to racial discrimination against Black Americans. “Thanks to the hard work of Rev MLK Jr. and others, growing up in Georgia, I've seen the beautiful fruit that blossomed from the Civil Rights Era, where segregation ended & equality began," Greene wrote in a GETTR post. "Today, I believe we are seeing a new segregation and discrimination beginning, wrongfully forced upon unvaccinated Americans by the tyrants of the Democrat Party." Greene wasn’t the only high-profile figure to apply King's philosophies of justice to their COVID-19 politics. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
