Wilson, who worked in the State Department under Dick Cheney and was a campaign strategist for Rudy Giuliani, spoke about his new book, [“Everything Trump Touches Dies: A Republican Strategist Gets Real About the Worst President Ever,”]( on “Salon Talks.” He told Salon’s Amanda Marcotte that Republicans have a responsibility for allowing Trump to happen and for not doing more to rein him in. “It’s a leadership failure in the beginning,” Wilson argued. “The leadership thought, ‘We’re going to let this guy play it out. Otherwise he’ll jump out of the race, run as an independent, and he’ll screw up with these populist voters.’” Watch the interview above to hear why Wilson blames the party’s “money folks” and how they wrongly approached the 2016 race, plus how the GOP can save its historical legacy from being destroyed by Trump. [iTwc8fXO-720.jpg]( [Interpol guitarist Daniel Kessler on the band's unique approach to recording new album “Marauder”]( Daniel Kessler, guitarist from the post-punk band from New York City Interpol, describes the reasons why the band recorded almost their whole album on analog tape. Nearly four years since their last studio album, Interpol released their sixth, “Marauder” this summer. “Marauder” commits to the spontaneity of an old recording method, two-inch tape recording, completely shaping the sound of the album. On “Salon Talks,” Kessler explained why the choice resulted in a more minimalist and human piece of art. “By doing two-inch tape and committing to it for the most part of making a record, it sort of limits you. You can look at it as limiting you, like limiting your options, but also it can be limiting you in a good way,” Kessler told SalonTV’s Amanda Marcotte. The band’s specific vision of using analog tape led to an “in the moment kind of record,” Kessler explained. Watch the video above to learn why Interpol made the choice to go with analog tape recording for their album “Marauder.” And check out the full interview to hear Kessler’s thoughts on the effects of gentrification on New York City’s music scene. Since then, the movement has gone beyond viral, changing the dynamic of contemporary politics, evolving the conversation around race in America and inspiring generations of activist like Darnell Moore. Moore is an award-winning author, activist and advocate for justice. In his new memoir [“No Ashes in the Fire: Coming of Age Black and Free in America,”]( Moore shares the journey taken by that scared, bullied teenager who not only survived but found his calling. He recently sat down with Salon’s studio to discuss his book, the power of Black Lives Matter and the evolution of the movement. “The movement for Black Lives should be expected to morph. There are a lot of arguments with people saying it’s no longer here, but organizers are always working,” Moore said. “Organizers are being very strategic, organizing around the particular issues of the moment, so there are a lot of folks doing work around electoral politics, policy roundtables that hone on specific policies that need to be overturned and doing work in communities, organizing at the ground.” Watch the full video above to learn more about how Darnell Moore’s take on activism and what change looks like. And check out the [full interview]( to hear how Moore wrestled with his identity growing up as a queer black man. [Ewt90mwi-720.jpg]( [In "Nowhere to Hide" documentary, watch war-torn Iraq fight a new, menacing force: ISIS]( Fifteen years after the US-led invasion of Iraq, the country continues to dominate the headlines with stories of sectarian violence, bombings, poverty and human displacement. Watch this exclusive clip from the documentary “Nowhere to Hide” above from Kurdish-Norwegian filmmaker Zaradasht Ahmed. In 2011, Ahmed returned to his birth country, heading into one of the world’s most dangerous areas, the “Triangle of Death” in central Iraq. As American troops withdrew, he followed nurse Nori Sharif and his family over five years as they navigated a war-torn country where a power vacuum left citizens vulnerable to a new, menacing force: ISIS. The film has won international awards, including Best Feature Length Documentary at IDFA, Best Documentary at the One World Human Rights Festival, the Nestor Almendros Prize for courage in filmmaking at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival, and several other awards at film festivals. “Nowhere to Hide” has its national broadcast and streaming debut on the PBS documentary series POV and pov.org on Monday, August 27, 2018, at 10 p.m. ET (check local listings). POV is American television’s longest-running independent documentary series now in its 31st season. Want more documentary content?
