Pioneering a music genre blend dubbed "TrapHouseJazz," which he coined at the age of 15, the artist performs a completely reimagined version of his song “Queen Tings.” Recently, Masego played a live set for “Salon Stage” where he performed popular records of his. He produced on the spot, whipped out his saxophone when needed and crooned, his voice both intoxicating and mesmerizing. However, Masego's music is not just in conversation with the many instruments he plays or with the genres — like Trap music, House music and Jazz — of which he's most inspired by. Masego's culture and upbringing is also deeply influential. He is the product of Jamaican parents; his early musical exposure came from the church and he was raised in Virginia, from the area that produced musical icons like Pharrell, Missy Elliott and Clipse. Despite Masego's popularity and collaboration with some of music's brightest like GoldLink, SiR, and DJ Jazzy Jeff, he hasn't released a debut album yet. But that's all about to change, as his 13-track debut titled "Lady Lady" will arrive Sept. 7. And that's not all. They surround you, knock you to the ground and taunt you by calling you gay, all before pouring gasoline on you and trying to spark a lighter. This is exactly what happened to leading Black Lives Matter activist and writer Darnell Moore when he was 14, in Camden, New Jersey –– and that wouldn’t be the first or last time he almost lost his life because of vicious homophobia and being a young black man in America. Recently Moore stopped by “Salon Talks” to share this story, his growth and explain to us why he forgave the young men who attacked him. “I really don’t believe in the disposing of black people,” Moore told SalonTV’s D. Abrams joined “Salon Talks” to discuss his book, [“Lincoln's Last Trial: The Murder Case That Propelled Him to the Presidency”]( which explores the year 1859 and takes the reader inside a murder trial courtroom with Abraham Lincoln, nine months before he got the Republican nomination. The book unearths the only transcript of Lincoln’s law career ever found, discovered in a garage in 1989. Abrams even explains how some lessons from the book could be applied to the current political situation, including the Mueller investigation. But Abrams emphasizes the importance of how the media perceives Donald Trump. Abrams explains to Salon’s Executive Editor Andrew O’Hehir, “It can't be every time the president says something that is not accurate, it's a lie. Because I think to say it's a lie, there has to be . . .
