On "Salon Talks," Loughlin discussed her early experiences working on a soap opera at age 17, her first TV job. She told Salon's Alli Joseph the most important lessons she learned in her career were ones of humility, when she saw the lead actor replaced by another actor, within days after he suffered an accident. "I was probably 17, and I thought, 'Don't ever think you can't be replaced, because you can,'" Loughlin told SalonTV. "It was just a lesson that I always took with me, to always be grateful." Loughlin says she is still most recognized for her work on “Full House," and more recently, “Fuller House” on Netflix. "I think I get a lot of recognition because ‘Full House’ has been on television for so many years," Loughlin said. "We have fans over generations of all different ages. People feel like they know me, like I'm an old friend.” Now starring on several projects with the Hallmark Channel, Loughlin appears in Hallmark's "When Calls the Heart," a period Western series she adores. Loughlin opens up to SalonTV about how she grew up watching mysteries with her mother, who always carried a mystery novel with her at all times. This made her mom a good sleuth, Loughlin joked. "I tried to sneak out one night, and she caught me red-handed! I thought I made it, my hand was on the door, I was with my cousin one summer, and then my mom was behind us - ‘Girls, where are you going?’” Watch the video above to learn about Loughlin's role in the "Garage Sale Mysteries," the advice she's currently giving her college-age daughters about the entertainment business, and her take on the Time’s Up movement in Hollywood. Guy Branum gives his take]( Stand-up comedian Guy Branum brings his hilarious new memoir, ["My Life As a Goddess: A Memoir Through (Un)Popular Culture,"]( a candid look at growing up, coming out and what it means to be a man to “Salon Talks.” Branum, best known for appearing on shows with Chelsea Handler, Kumail Nanjiani and Larry Wilmore, and his writing on shows like "Billy on the Street" and "The Mindy Project," gets real about everything from his country bumpkin upbringing to fat shaming in Hollywood. The best thing that happened in Branum's career was not becoming an attorney. After attending the University of Minnesota's Law School, he forged a path in stand-up, and became the creator and host of truTV’s "Talk Show The Game Show," the host of the [Pop Rocket podcast,]( and more recently, a memoirist. "Everybody to some extent is told, 'This part of you is wrong,' or 'You're not welcome in this aspect of the world,'" Branum shares with SalonTV, "and you have to figure out how to manage that for yourself. It's a job we all have to do." For Branum, that has meant spending his life challenging the idea that a man with his frame should be playing football instead of telling jokes. "Masculinity has been interrogating me my entire life," he says. "We take for granted how much all of us are challenged and questioned by masculinity. I'm sure there's some form it could take where it would be great, where it wasn't constantly trying to shove other people into their place, but as it is right now, I'm not a huge fan." Watch the video above to see Branum discuss the right way to bake a cobbler and why he has strong feelings about a certain Ed Sheeran song. [QpIPmeVl-720.jpg]( [“Boardwalk Empire”’s Kelly Macdonald reveals why she loves puzzles and hates this type of Scottish accent]( When Kelly Macdonald of “Trainspotting,” “No Country for Old Men” and “Boardwalk Empire” received the script for her newest film, Sony Pictures Classics’ “Puzzle,” the pitch sounded vague and a little weird—a character who loves puzzles? But then, Macdonald read the script. “It blew me away,” she told Salon’s Tom Roston on “Salon Talks.” “It was so not about puzzles.” The Scottish actor and Emmy Award winner plays Agnes, a mom who discovers her strange, hidden talent for puzzle making. She rides her new hobby into a new world of possibilities in director Marc Turtletaub’s quiet, indie drama. As unshowy as Macdonald’s performance is, it is subtle, nuanced and revelatory. Agnes, Macdonald goes on to explain to SalonTV, “felt like a version of characters that I've played before, but there's just more depth than anyone else I feel, and these hidden depths, are it's her struggle to sort of release them.” It’s been 22 years since “Trainspotting,” and while Macdonald has shined as a standout in supporting roles for projects like “No Country for Old Men” and “Boardwalk Empire,” “Puzzle” is her first time being the lead. On “Salon Talks,” Macdonald discusses the moment it clicked that she was the number one actor on the call sheet. And, Macdonald really does love puzzles. She did them on set in between takes, and has been interested in puzzle making since her ‘20s, “old lady stuff,” she calls it. Watch Macdonald actually do a puzzle on “Salon Talks” while she discuss why there aren’t enough Scottish actresses stateside and her next project, BBC One and Netflix’s thriller “Giri/Haji.” Tune in for SalonTV's live shows, ["Salon Talks"]( and ["Salon Stage"]( , daily at noon ET / 9 a.m. PT and 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT, streaming live on [YouTube]( , [Facebook]( and [Periscope]( . --------------------------------------------------------------- [imp?s=289855&layout=marquee&li=5deda2aaa7&e={EMAIL}&p=a55e964786]( [imp?s=289856&sz=1x1&li=5deda2aaa7&e={EMAIL}&p=a55e964786] [imp?s=289857&sz=1x1&li=5deda2aaa7&e={EMAIL}&p=a55e964786] [imp?s=289858&sz=116x15&li=5deda2aaa7&e={EMAIL}&p=a55e964786]( [imp?s=289859&sz=69x15&li=5deda2aaa7&e={EMAIL}&p=a55e964786]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [What #MeToo woes?
