Jumia posts $192m loss, eyes stock market for succour
Huge losses of $192m (170m euros) in 2018 and the difficulties in raising additional funds from its current investors have been identified as reasons behind the decision of e-commerce giant Jumia to list its shares on the stock market in order to keep the business afloat.
Jumia is presently putting together an Initial Public Offer (IPO) in New York this year which will reportedly see the business valued at $1.5 billion, with reports indicating that some of its current investors are set to divest their stake in the business after it emerged that the MTN Group, Jumia's biggest shareholder, is looking to raise up to $600 million from the sale of its shares during the IPO. Lagos Building Collapse: Over 50 persons rescued from trappings
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) today confirmed that over 50 people have been rescued from beneath the debris of the collapsed building in Itafaji, Lagos Island.
This was according to a statement by the General Manager, Adeshina Tiamiyu who explained the number of casualties cannot be ascertained until the rescue operation is over.âSo far, we have been able to rescue over 40 people.
When we finish the rescue operation we can give an accurate number of the victims in collaboration with the medical personnel,â he stated. [Read more](

Adamawa Rerun: Court stops INEC from conducting supplementary elections
A High Court sitting in Yola, the capital of Adamawa state has issued an order mandating the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from conducting supplementary governorship election in the state.
This order was given by Justice Abdulaziz Waziri following a motion ex parte filed by Movement of Restoration for Defence of Democracy (MRPD).
The party claimed its party logo was excluded from the ballot paper for the March 9 governorship election conducted in the state. [Read more](

President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, NOSDRA, Amendment Bill 2018.
The President in a letter to the Senate, read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki cited three reasons for rejecting the bill.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) is taking a firmer stance against companies that fail to post their audited financial statements within the regulatory time frame for them.
It has fined 36 quoted companies for failing in this regard concerning their duty of timely disclosure.The companies include Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc., Academy Press Plc., International Breweries Plc., Mutual Benefit Assurance Plc. and NPF Microfinance Bank Plc.
