The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Oby Ezekwesili, cannot withdraw from the 2019 presidential election.
This declaration was made by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi in reply to questions about Ezekwesili's withdrawal from the race stating it is impossible for any presidential candidate to withdraw from the race now. [Read more](

House of Reps to probe irregularities in renewal of oil well contracts
The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the alleged irregularities in the ongoing renewal of oil and gas well leases while also mandating the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), to investigate the renewals.
The resolution of the House followed the adoption of a motion moved by Abubakar Chika Adamu (APC, Niger State).
While moving the motion, Adamu had explained that the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), had, in December 2017, observed some irregularities in the renewal of oil and gas leases being undertaken by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Department of Petroleum Resources. [Read more](

Minimum Wage: Senate passes bill for second reading
The agitation for a new national minimum wage may soon be over as the Senate on Thursday passed for second reading the National Minimum Wage Bill, 2019.
The lawmakers also reiterated their commitment to the speedy passage of the law.
A total of 11 senators who spoke during the debate on the bill all supported the passage of the bill.
