Using my printer, I transferred the original photograph into a black-and white print, made a line drawing from that, and enlarged it several times until I reached the size I wanted to hook. I removed the bottom section for a more finished look. 2. I placed red dot tracing/interfacing on top of the line drawing and carefully traced it with a ballpoint pen. 3. I folded the tracing into quarters to locate the center and placed a black dot there. I folded my linen into quarters and found the center spot and placed a black dot there. 4. The red dot tracing was placed upon my linen by matching the black dots. These steps assure that my pattern is centered on the linen backing. 5. Then I used a marker to slowly trace the red dot tracing pattern, thus allowing the ink to transfer directly onto the linen below. 6. I always allow at least 5 inches extra of foundation around the design in case I wish to makes changes or add extra borders.
