India Seeks Taliban Cooperation In Enhancing Trade Via Iran’s Chabahar Port India has reached out to the Taliban government in Kabul seeking its cooperation in expanding political and economic ties, thereby kick-starting bilateral trade and transit between both countries using the Chabahar Port in Iran. In a series of meetings with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), an Indian delegation led by JP Singh, Joint Secretary (Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran Division), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), met Taliban government officials in Kabul as well as former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai. During his visit to Kabul, Singh along with the Indian officials posted at the Indian Embassy there met Taliban’s interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and Minister of Industry and Trade Alhaji Nuruddin Azizi, discussing development of economic cooperation, transit and trade relations between the two countries, according to statements issued by the Taliban government.
