I’m up early sipping a cup of coffee, and it has me thinking back to some of the jobs I had long before I was elected to the U.S. Senate. When I was a waitress in college, I used to wake up at the crack of dawn to work the breakfast shift. Breakfast is the hardest shift as a waitress because of two things: toast and coffee. You have to time the toast so it comes out with the breakfast – and you have to do that while also making sure everybody in the restaurant has enough coffee. Think that’s easy? Forget about it. When I think about toast and coffee nowadays, it reminds me of where I came from and why I fight so hard for working families to this day. Growing up, I worked a lot of different jobs – folding laundry at the dry cleaners, scooping ice cream, working in a research lab. I worked as a cocktail waitress at Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip and was a member of Culinary Workers Union Local 226. I did it all to make ends meet and become the first in my family to graduate college. Even after I started my career as a computer programmer, I took community college classes at night to get ahead and worked as a banquet waitress on the weekends to pay my bills. Today, my job is serving Nevada in the U.S. Senate, and it is the honor of my life. And I’m especially proud to represent the union members and hardworking families who built our great state. I will always remember my roots. That’s why I never let up in the fight to grow our middle class, create good-paying jobs, and lower everyday costs. But to keep up that fight, I need your help right now. CNN is reporting that I'm one of the most vulnerable senators up for reelection, and recent polling shows me 2 points down in the race that experts predict is likely to decide Senate control. The only way I can keep Nevada blue is with your support. [Please, friend – will you chip in $5 or more now to help me win in battleground Nevada, defend the Senate for Democrats, and continue delivering progress for working families nationwide?]( I'm so grateful to have you on my team. Text Jacky to 30508]( A note from Sen. Jacky Rosen: Friend, I’m fighting tirelessly in the Senate to deliver progress for people across Nevada and our country. But experts say I’m one of the most vulnerable senators up for reelection, and the GOP is zeroing in on me as a top target for defeat. That’s why I’m counting on your critical grassroots support to fight back and win. Senate control will all come down to Nevada – and I need to know you’re with me.
