On May 24, 2022, I lost one of the most important people in my life. My daughter, Jackie, was among the 19 children and two teachers killed by a gunman at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. While the chaos and pain of that day is indescribable, I knew I had to channel my grief into action — and so did my state senator, Roland Gutierrez. In the days after Jackie’s death, Roland dedicated himself to supporting families like mine, investigating the tragedy at Robb Elementary School, and changing the loose gun laws that led to this massacre.
