Precious metals had its run; time for crypto ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Cryptocurrency has been rallying along with gold and silver, but it is not all operating in the same way. There could be a major change coming for Ethereum. ETH is currently near a nine-month high. It's also nearing a major technical upgrade. The upgrade, called "Shapella," will allow ether (the token that powers the network) holders to withdraw their assets. That's a big deal because it breaks the reliance on exchanges. Why does that matter? Because it's the exchanges that the federal government has been going after. Binance is currently being sued by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Coinbase (COIN) is reportedly about to face a lawsuit from the SEC. (And, slightly unrelated, Elon Musk could be facing a $258 billion lawsuit over dogecoin tweets, but never mind.) What the new ethereum upgrade means is that there will be fewer barriers between users and the network. Ethereum now runs on proof of stake, a far less energy intensive method than proof of work. Now, ether can become a major asset in its own right. Rather than "digital gold," ether is transforming into a productive tool. But it remains to be seen whether the governments of the world - in any geopolitical bloc - want to let that happen. Keep Moving, Corey Snyder Publisher, Rogue Investing WORD ON THE STREET AMC/APE Switch, Payrolls Below Expectations, Pipeline Battle - Shock Court Ruling Sets Up Big Switch - AMC Entertainment's main shares (AMC) surged while its preferred equity shares (APEs) plummeted yesterday. Delaware's Court of Chancery ruled against the swift conclusion of a settlement that would have ended a lawsuit that would have allowed the company to issue more shares and raise more money. Vince Chancellor Morgan Zurn thought AMC was moving too fast with the settlement. The wheels of justice turn slowly, after all. - Joe Manchin Slams Pipeline Decision - Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) is in a delicate position - facing a hard re-election battle in West Virginia, he needs to thread a path through progressives and conservatives in his state that are hostile to a climate agenda. Thus, he blasted a 4th Circuit Court panel decision to stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline project. Manchin said the court wanted to "side with activists who seem hell-bent on killing any fossil energy that will make our country energy independent and secure" - Not So Great Expectations - Private payrolls were only at 145,000 in March, below expectations. It's another sign of slowing economic growth. The Dow Jones estimate was for 210,000 - so this was not an insignificant miss. - Cost Of Conflict - The International Monetary Fund said tensions between the United States and China are causing companies to consider "moving production home or to trusted countries." "Emerging market and developing countries are particularly affected by reduced access to investment from advanced economies, due to reduced capital formation and productivity gains from the transfer of better technologies and know-how," wrote IMF economists. The IMF argues it could lead to as much as a 2% loss in global GDP. HOT SPOTS: What's Going on in Geopolitics - Mexico Asks China For Help In Handling Fentanyl - Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) has contacted Chinese president Xi Jinping to ask for help in controlling fentanyl imports. AMLO is clearly facing American accusations that he isn't doing enough to stop the drug from entering the United States. Turning to China will not soothe Washington's feelings. - Speaker McCarthy, Taiwanese President Meet – Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen met outside Los Angeles, brushing off Chinese warnings against such recognition. "I believe our bond is stronger now than at any time or point in my lifetime," said McCarthy. - Ukraine Wobbles On Crimea - Ukraine said that it was willing to discuss the issue of who owns Russian-occupied Crimea - albeit only if Ukraine reaches the borders. "If we will succeed in achieving our strategic goals on the battlefield and when we will be on the administrative border with Crimea, we are ready to open diplomatic page to discuss this issue," said Andriy Sybiha, deputy head of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office. CUTTING EDGE: What[']( )s Happening In Tech - EV Lamborghini Unveiled - Lamborghini now has its first plug-in hybrid car. The "Revuelto" has three electric motors that is attached to a V-12 engine. That's serious power - one thousand horsepower in fact. It can power the car up to 217 mph. - Apple Inc. Opens Retail Store In India – Mumbai will host the first official retail store for Apple. India is now the world's second-largest smartphone market - almost 700 million users. - Tesla More Than Tripled Its Workforce In 2022 - A report filed with local authorities showed that Tesla's workforce at its Austin gigafactory grew from 3,523 employees to 12,277 employees. That far surpasses what it bound to do after a deal cut with local authorities. Tesla invested $5.81 billion in the factory last year FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION --------------------------------------------------------------- "The perception is that the quality of life in the city has fallen. That may be somewhat subjective. Nonetheless, investors can look to the relatively objective measure of what businesses are doing about it." The murder of Cash App founder Bob Lee has profoundly shocked San Francisco. But Mr. X argues that the crime is simply the culmination of a years-long process - and the tech sector may never be the same. [THE FLIGHT OF THE CREATIVE CLASS]( ) Enjoying Dawn Report?
