Court decision could mean doom

Ford was above $25 a share back in January 2022. Like so many other stocks, it's lost a huge amount of value since, and is down more than 27% year-to-date. However, if you take a step back, it's still up about 25% over the last 12 months. More importantly, it's been showing signs of real momentum.
As a quintessentially American company, it's in a prime political position to receive help from the Biden Administration as it shifts to electric vehicles. It's been paying off billions of dollars in debt. Ford recently annihilated earnings expectations, with adjusted earnings in the second quarter about 68 cents a share compared to the 45 cents that analysts predicted. Earnings topped expectations by more than one billion dollars. And Ford is rolling out the EV that might make electric mainstream - the F-150 Lightning. A climate friendly version of the ubiquitous pickup could take America by storm. But there's bad news that the company couldn't have seen coming... On Friday, a jury found the company liable for potential $1.7 billion in punitive damages over a 2014 fatal rollover that killed a Georgia couple.
"While our sympathies go out to the Hill family, we don't believe the verdict is supported by the evidence, and we plan to appeal," said the company. This is the kind of thing that you can't predict with technical analysis or even by studying the fundamentals.
The fact is anything can happen in a courtroom - it depends on the locale, the whims of the judge, the makeup of the jury, the skill of the attorneys. Now, these kinds of massive judgments tend to be reduced on appeal. Yet there's no guarantee, and something this big can shift a company's entire strategy. At the least, it injects a massive measure of instability... and we know how markets hate instability.

[CLICK HERE TO WATCH]( WORD ON THE STREET Pound Plummets, American Wage Growth Remains Hot, Baldness Cure? - Airstrip One - The United Kingdom is facing record inflation and the Bank of England is expected more than double its key interest rate by March. However, even this steep rise in interest rates is not convincing currency speculators to stick with the pound. Conservative Liz Truss, who is likely to be the next party leader and Prime Minister, downplayed the possibility of a recession, saying instead that "we can unleash opportunity here in Britain." - Old Drug Has A New Use â Minoxidil has long been used to treat baldness by being directly applied to the scalp. However, The New York Times reports that some dermatologists are finding dramatic results in prescribing low dose minoxidil to be taken orally. The FDA has yet to formally approve this use, so it is being prescribed "off-label." And because the drug is so cheap, there likely never will be a high-cost trial to prove that it works - meaning doctors and patients will be operating on their own. If it does work out, it could be bad news for Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), which owns Rogaine. A Dream No Longer - Fed Confronts Wage Puzzle â While inflation is slowing, wage growth has not. That might sound like good news for American workers, but it has the Federal Reserve worried that high wages will lead to high prices. In the nightmare situation, workers get paid more but can buy less. The complicated problem has high stakes, because if the Fed decides to cool the labor market with steeper interest rate hikes, it risks pushing the country into an unnecessary recession.
- Made In America - With Russia being cut out of the world economy and supply chains reliant on China suddenly looking undependable, it's time to bring factories back home. American companies are scheduled to bring back about 350,000 jobs to the United States this year in what analysts call "reshoring." These include high tech companies producing computer chips, lithium-ion batteries, and electric vehicle production. "3-Pillar" strategy spots a 108% surge in just 4 days... HOT SPOTS: What's Going on in Geopolitics - Zulus Get A New King â The Zulus still have a king, who doesn't have formal political power but has great symbolic significance as leader of the South African ethnic group. Misuzulu ka Zwelithini is the new monarch as of Saturday in a ceremony attended by hundreds of supporters. However, he didn't take the crown without opposition - some members of the royal family have disputed the claim. Yet ultimately South African President Cyril Ramaphosa backed the new monarch, and that seemed to settle the issue. Long live the king. - Russia Holds War Games In Venezuela â The Bear once again has a presence in Latin America. Cuban, Bolivian, and Nicaraguan forces joined Russians in Venezuela for international war games, with other powers from Asia as well as Belarus adding their own troops. International observers were especially struck by the participation of Chinese forces, a sign that the Russian/Chinese alliance may be deepening and even extending its presence into America's traditional backyard.   - Alexander Dugin's Daughter Killed In Car Bomb Attack - Alexander Dugin, a Russian ideologue whose philosophies justifying Russia's imperial role may have proven influential in the invasion of Ukraine, was evidently targeted in an assassination attack on Saturday night. However, the explosion killed his daughter Darya Dugina. Footage showed a stunned Dugin staring at the burning wreckage mere moments after the attack. CUTTING EDGE: What[']( Happening In Tech - Andrew Tate Gets Purged - Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer and content creator, has been deplatformed from Instagram and Facebook. About 98% of those with the disease are male.  - NASA Identifies 13 Targets For Moon Landing - NASA is moving forward with America's return to the moon (even though it still hasn't picked the rocket or the crew for the Artemis mission). However, it has picked 13 regions near the South Pole that could serve as locations for America's new base. The mission is scheduled for as early as 2025. The moon is rightful American clay, no one can dispute this FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION Much of the trading advice out there emphasizes this, "Only trade companies you want to own because buying shares makes you part owner in the company." Every time I think about this, it makes me chuckle.Trading isn't about your moral values. It's not about what you like or don't like. It's about exchanging value for value... hopefully, for greater value. We're in this to make money. So why do traders approach certain stocks like they have an obligation to defend the company? Chris Hood drops some truth on first principles involving trading. This is about your gain, not theirs... and if you forget that, you will be the one to suffer, not them.
