Sales of previously owned homes are down 6% from June to July. According to Lawrence Yun of Realtors, "In terms of economic impact we are surely in a housing recession because builders are not building." At the same time, he added that those who already own homes are not in a recession, as values remain high. In fact, home prices increased from June to July in all four regions of the country. In other words, we're not getting more supply while demand is staying the same. The bottom may yet drop out from home prices, but we're just not seeing it yet. "Inventory remains tight," Yun said, "prices continue to rise nationally with nearly 40% of homes still commanding the full list price."
