How to view corporate scandal ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

How to view corporate scandal ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ How much control does a company have over its employees? Uber Technologies (UBER) was down by more than 5%... and it's easy to say why. More than 124,000 leaked documents showed that Uber had a close relationship with politicians all around the world, especially French President Emmanuel Macron. This included Uber and Macron working together to push back against protests when the company was first getting off the ground. Amusingly enough, Uber tried to woo the wealthy and powerful in Russia, but its efforts failed. (Uber is probably thankful for that now). Mark MacGann, a former executive, is coming forward as the whistleblower. "I was the one talking to governments, I was the one pushing this with the media, I was the one telling people that they should change the rules because drivers were going to benefit and people were going to get so much economic opportunity." He went so far as to say that "we had actually sold people a lie." Now, this isn't about the truth of the allegations... as with anything, this might be litigated in the courts of law and public opinion. But as investors, we need to know how to deal with this. After all, it hasn't been long since Frances Haugen of Facebook was testifying to Congress as a "whistleblower," detailing to the world her problems with the company. That alone may have been the catalyst for the rebrand to Meta Platforms (META). The company went through a nightmare of public relations, but the company is still standing. How should investors approach this? You can't predict this kind of stuff. However, there is a correct way to react to it. The fundamentals of a company rarely change because of something like this. There should always be a "waiting period" before reacting to this news. The end result may actually be to make Uber more attractive. "Black swans" are inevitable in politics, investing, and life. But these supposed "Black Swans" are typically a way for many to simplify things they don't understand. There's always an explanation, even when no one saw it coming. The key is not to panic, to learn how to ride the wave, and to be absolutely ruthless when looking at the bottom line. Negative PR can be devastating - or just a buying opportunity. Always keep your eye on the prize. Keep Moving, Any strategy that makes you money consistently is worthwhile. Though many new traders believe that trading is primarily about indicators and tools, Chris maintains that it is at least 95% about emotional control. This is especially relevant in this bearish, choppy market which has made the trading world extremely difficult. Learn some pro tips to come back from your losses and stay in the game. However, about 30 million people could face lockdowns. New infections are up by about 60 cases in Shanghai... and it was the lockdown in Shanghai that drove a lockdown which sent shudders through the global economy, especially for companies like Tesla (TSLA). Can China, or even the global economy, handle another one? You can't just cut this off from the global economy without consequences - French Pharmaceutical Asks FDA For Over-The-Counter Birth Control - Perrigo (PRGO) is the company that owns HRA Pharma, which produces Opill. HRMA Pharma claims it has asked the FDA to approve the daily contraceptive for over-the-counter use. It would be first birth control pill in the United States that would be available without a prescription if approved. The FDA has not commented.  - Gas Prices Still Declining - Will it come in time to change the Democrats' fate in the midterm elections? Gas prices continue to decline, with the national average falling by more 34 cents a gallon a month. President Biden admitted prices are still far too high, but noted the decline as evidence that "the program is working." This "tool" earned over $400k in 12 months. "I know that one day it will be completed, peacefully, without violence and conflict."  CUTTING EDGE: What[']( Happening In Tech - New Variant Just Dropped - No, not that new variant. There's an even newer variant. Variant BA.2.75 is reportedly able to dodge immunity from previous infections as well as vaccines. There was some good news as Moderna (MRNA) reported its new booster provides better protection from the increasingly dominant BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants, though this new BA.2.75 one will provide yet another challenge. The BA.5 subvariant is spreading quickly in New York, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) one of the victims. He is reportedly experiencing mild symptoms. - Some Special Effects Technicians Condemn Marvel - I don't think I'm the only one who has noticed that special effects seem worse now than they were a decade ago. Well, it may simply be because technicians are just overworked. Several visual effects (VFX) workers claiming to have worked with the company say it's a nightmare, with unrealistic deadlines and bad production. Still, it's just the bottom line that counts. Thor: Love and Thunder brought in $143 million domestically for its opening weekend. - Twitter Hires Lawyer To Take On Musk - And so it begins. Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz is reportedly representing Twitter as the company tries to force Elon Musk to go through with his $44 billion takeover attempt. The case will reportedly be tried in Delaware. As for Musk, he's reportedly being represented by Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan.  On the first trading day since Musk announced he was leaving the deal, TWTR was down by more than 10%. FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION "China’s political elite draws its very legitimacy from delivering economic growth. China’s growth target for the year is 5.5% – something that most experts were saying was out of reach just a few weeks ago." "With current news, I’m just going to put myself out there. China will miss this target. And it will miss because of COVID policies." is imposing lockdowns again... but that could be just the beginning.
