... but Elon can comfort himself with his new twins ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ The beatings will continue until morale improves. That seems to be the attitude the Fed is taking towards the stock market. Concern over inflation is dwarfing all other issues. At their last meeting, Federal Reserve officials reportedly conceded that sharply higher interest rate increases may be needed - even if it hurts the stock market. You have to assume they are feeling the political heat breathing down their necks. Poll after poll shows that inflation is the top issue going into the midterm elections and while the Federal Reserve is nominally independent... that's a bit of a polite fiction. "It's the economy, stupid," is the catch-phrase that's used to explain Politics 101. And it's the height of naivete to think that there's a hard and fast distinction between the federal government and central bank policies. The political question is whether a stock market collapse will outweigh defeating inflation. For investors, the question is whether defeating inflation is even possible without a recession. The housing market is already showing signs of slowing and the IMF says a recession can no longer be ruled out. "It's going to be a tough '22, but maybe even a tougher 2023," according to IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. Yet consider some of what we saw yesterday. Resolute Forest Products (RFP) was up more than 63% after getting bought out by Paper Excellence Group. Veru Inc. (VERU) was up more than 13% (and even more in after-hours trading) after its COVID-19 treatment showed effectiveness in a Phase 3 study. And Seelos Therapeutics (SEEL), part of the RID Model Portfolio, was up by more than 20% following reports of insiders buying up company stock. At a time of general decline, it's actually easier in some ways to pick out the stocks that are going to move. The patterns stand out more. The news that serves as a catalyst has a bigger impact. I've got a new column on how you can use a powerful technique to spot the winners below. Sneak preview - follow the trends. And always... [CLICK HERE TO WATCH]( WORD ON THE STREET Fed Floats Another Rate Hike, Wheels Off At Toyota, Tesla Twins - He Really IS Worried About Underpopulation - While you hear a lot of talk about overpopulation, Elon Musk has constantly been banging the drum on the need for more people. His pinned tweet still reads: "USA birth rate has been below min sustainable levels for ~50 years." Well, let no one say he doesn't practice what he preaches. Elon Musk and Tesla executive Shivon Zilis had twins last November. Musk now has nine children - so if he wants to start yet another enterprise, he can have his own baseball team. - ♫ The Wheels On The Car Go Flying Off, Flying Off, Flying Off ♫ - Now this is what we call a design flaw. Toyota's plans to challenge Tesla in the EV market hit a snag when it had to issue a recall for its BZ4X SUVs. The wheels can literally come off the car after a relatively low amount of mileage. The company is reportedly investigating why this is happening. I would hope so. - British Government On The Brink - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is facing political defeat as Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid announced they were quitting his government on Tuesday night - but that wasn't the end of it. As of this writing, more than 40 other officials have bailed. Incredibly, Boris is vowing to hold on. This could have major ramifications for the war in Ukraine, as the Prime Minister has been one of the beleaguered country's biggest boosters. - All Hail King Dollar - Sure, there's plenty of inflation... but where else are you going to turn? The dollar rose 7% last year and is up 12% this year, showing that experts believe the Federal Reserve will ultimately tame inflation. It's not so much that the dollar is going to retain its value at home, it's that the euro, the yen, and the pound are all weakening by double-digit percentages compared to the greenback. This "tool" earned over $400k in 12 months. Video uncovers the winning tactics that handed one trader an average $7,300 in profit every week using just shy of $12,000 in capital. [Watch The Official Replay Right Now — Click Here]( HOT SPOTS: What's Going on in Geopolitics - Call Between Putin And Macron Leaked: Russia's government reacted with fury as a phone call between French President Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Putin was leaked. During the call, Macron savaged Putin for accepting legal claims made by separatists. In response, Putin said that Ukraine's government was not democratically elected and had come to power via a violent coup. He then said he was going to work out and left. So, I guess that concludes negotiations. - America Exported Oil Even As Reserve Tapped - President Joe Biden tapped the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in order to reduce gas prices. However, Reuters reports that over 5 million barrels of oil were exported to foreign countries in Europe and Asia. Republicans have pounced on the report, with right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson calling for impeachment.  - FBI And MI5 Warn Of Chinese Threat - In a rare joint warning from both intelligence agencies, FBI Director Christopher Wray suggested China may be inching closer to invading Taiwan. MI5 Director General Ken McCallum said that the assumption that growing prosperity would lead China to adopt liberalism has been proven wrong. "The Chinese Communist Party is interested in our democratic, media and legal systems," he said. "Not to emulate them, sadly, but to use them for its gain."  CUTTING EDGE: What[']( Happening In Tech - Tesla Suffers First Quarterly Decline - For the first time since the pandemic began, Tesla's deliveries declined from the previous quarter. The company blamed shutdowns in China and problems with its new factories in Germany and Texas for the decline. Elon Musk has called the factories "gigantic money furnaces." - Good News For Chipmakers? - Samsung Electronics Co. reported stronger than expected sales, with revenue jumping by 21%. The report has been taken as a good sign for the entire sector, with rival Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co up more than 5% in Taipei. - Ultimate Lockdown - No, not another production lockdown. Apple is unveiling a new feature this fall called "Lockdown Mode" that will reportedly be more effective against malware such as Pegasus. Apple is also offering a $2 million "bug bounty" for anyone who can find security holes. The Pegasus Malware was reportedly used to spy on activists FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION Being trendy isn’t necessarily a bad thing… It’s true — "The trend is your friend." - especially - in a choppy market, you can find big winners. But you need to know how to follow the patterns - and identify the trends. Corey breaks it down on how we might have a big winner in the days to come.
