Powell confirmed that the central bank might need to raise rates higher for longer than previously expected, but said no decision has been made for the upcoming March meeting. Some economists expect a positive surprise Friday. This would be bad news for the market, as it would give the Fed cause to move ahead with more aggressive rate hikes.
