The DIA, which tracks 30 large-cap Dow stocks, has been trading in the same range for eight days now. This has created a lot of choppiness, which is one of the worst things that could happen because we need some type of directional bias from the market. However, it’s also pushing volatility via the VIX, or fear gauge, a little bit lower… This is creating a nice base. So if you look at the IWM, an ETF that tracks small-cap stocks, you’ll notice that it’s starting to break out. I like the IWM right now and the longer it stays at these levels, the better chance we’ll be able to build a nice foundation. In this morning’s stock market recap video, I’ll explain why the market is so choppy right now… what the U.S. dollar rising means for traders… the major catalyst everyone is waiting for this week… whether the bond market is going to rise or fall… which sector is in the lead right now… key market levels to pay attention to… and the top ETF with an options pick. It’s not a subscription or strategy… And it’s certainly not a special indicator for big wins… But I do believe it could be the only way for us to protect our portfolios from further downside pressure. In this week’s roundtable, we covered: - More revenue downgrades for Target and Credit Suisse, a recurring theme that’s bad news for the economy — but I say not to throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to retailer stocks! - The federal government is talking about regulating crypto — which goes against everything crypto was invented for — and Lance and I have strong opinions on this topic. - U.S.-listed Chinese stocks are a hot topic again. Lance gave three ways to play it including a big bull call spread in a particular stock he went over. I also shared a couple of ways to play China stocks — but both stressed caution. - Lance and I both shared their favorite opportunities in the market right now — and something to throw out of your portfolio. - And more! Be sure and tune in every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. EDT for the WealthPress LIVE Roundtable!
