THANK YOU. Hi {NAME}, A few weeks ago, I sent you an email with the subject "Will you please help me?" It was an email asking for your help in getting Christmas gifts for 183 Ukrainian families that are here as refugees. I was AFRAID to send you that email. (This is embarrassing...) I was worried people might get upset because maybe there are other people who need our help more than these refugees. Or maybe people would be upset because I mentioned Christmas instead of a different holiday. I even thought people might suspect me of secretly doing this for personal gain ... Like it was a trick or something... But I got over it and sent the email. AND YOU CAME THROUGH! My wife, Natalia, is Ukrainian. She immigrated here over 20 years ago. So she found out the ages and genders of all the kids, picked out gifts for each one of them, and then set up a special page on Amazon where people could just buy one of the gifts and it would be sent directly to the Charity organization we're working with. (I didn't even know you could do that on Amazon. Pretty cool!) Anyway - you guys came through. EVERY SINGLE CHILD GOT A GIFT. Here's a screenshot of the text we recieved yesterday. This was sent by the young woman who volunteers for the charity. She spent SIX HOURS driving around and delivering gifts to everyone: In addition to the presents you bought, Natalia and I also bought a $100 Amazon gift card for each family so the parents could go and get something for themselves or each other. It's not a lot, but I think it gave them some dignity. That was our intention anyway. These folks are just like you and me... Except their homes, schools, hospitals, roads, playgrounds, and friends have been blown to pieces in a war they didn't ask for. YOU. You helped someone ... Someone just like us ... Someone who's life went from "normal" to "nightmare" in the blink of an eye ... YOU helped them have a good day. I cannot thank you enough. Here I am ...supposed to be good at writing copy ... But I'm at a loss for words. I don't know how I can express my gratitude, but man ... Am I ever grateful for you. I needed you. You were there. I won't forget it. Frank P.S. Merry Christmas! And if you don't celebrate Christmas, then ...like ...happy Sunday and Monday! P.P.S. There's a Christmas carol ... Can't remember the name of the song ... Has this verse in it ... Part of the verse is "Peace on Earth good will towards men" ... I think of that verse ... And I think that good will towards men CREATES peace on Earth. So here's to more good will. P.P.P.S. No disrespect intended by the use of the word "men" instead of "people". My family and I ALL have Covid and I don't have the brain power to figure out how to phrase it in a way that's completely inclusive. As a man with a wife and three daughters, the last thing I want to do is be disrespectful to any ladies, ever. (If y'all were running things we'd probably be better off and that dumb war wouldn't be happening in the first place.) O.K. I'm rambling. Damn Covid! Anyway ...thank you. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
