Hi {NAME}, I need you to help me do something really cool for some people neither of us have ever seen... My family and I have committed to make Christmas special for 183 Ukrainian families who, without our help, won't be able to give their kids gifts on Christmas morning. As a parent, I can't imagine how awful it would be if I couldn't provide anything to my kids on Christmas ... A day that all children look forward to. It's not about "stuff" or materialism ... It's about giving someone a chance to have at least ONE day where life feels ... Normal again. Safe. These refugees are no different than you and I ... Except they've had to flee their country to escape a war they never asked for. So Natalia and I, along with our kids - Nora, Ava, Alexander, and Katya, are going to make damned sure that each one of the kids in these 183 families has at least one present to open on Christmas morning. Will you help us do it? The organization we're working with is called "Lutheran Services Carolinas" and we've been helping them for the past several months. They work directly with the families that need help ...and they actually help them. There's no "middle man" or any of that B.S. That's why we know that there are precisely 183 families we can help together. Natalia was able to find out the ages and genders of all the kids in each family... She picked out gifts for them, and set up a special page on Amazon where you can go and BE A TOTAL HERO to someone this Christmas. Its here: [( There's no need to buy anything expensive or do any "work" ... She's already picked out all the gifts and set it up so your present will be shipped directly to the church we're working with. All you need to do is pick one, click a few buttons, and ...man, you'll create a moment for someone that they'll never forget. Again - here's the Amazon page: [( In case you're wondering, of course we're not affiliates or anything like that. We're not compensated for this in any way, shape, or fashion. In fact, these gifts for the kids are just *part* of what we're doing. There are exactly 97 adult women and 86 adult men in this group. We're personally getting Target gift cards and sending enough so each and every one of them can have the experience of going to the store and buying a gift for a loved one. I know that if I was in their shoes, I'd want to be able to do that. It's a matter of dignity. So - we've got the gift cards covered... All the adults can take a break from life as a refugee and feel "normal" again - even if its just for a day. Will you help us go the extra mile and make sure these kids have some presents to unwrap? It's just a few clicks of your mouse here on Amazon: [( I sure do appreciate it. Frank P.S. The shipping address for the church *should* show up when you check out on Amazon. (We've never set up one of these pages before so bear with me.) If the address doesn't show up, it's: Lutheran Services Carolinas 421 N MAIN ST, GREENVILLE, SC, 29601-2000 United States P.P.S. My wife is Ukrainian. She immigrated here over 20 years ago. My son and youngest daughter are half Ukrainian. Their Grandmother, cousins, aunts, and uncles are in Ukraine right now ... Those who are old enough and healthy enough are fighting in a war they never asked for ... Those who aren't able to fight are basically praying. Praying that the next randomly fired missle doesn't hit the building or shelter they're in. Praying that their son, daughter, mother, or father isn't hurt in combat ... Or worse. NOBODY SHOULD LIVE LIKE THAT. Naturally, we've sent a lot of money directly to families in Ukraine ... But this project is helping 183 families that just got here. They left their entire world behind so they could survive. Many of them lost loved ones before they got out. I can't imagine ... P.P.P.S. I'm guessing there's going to be one out of every 1,000 people or so who read this and end up getting bent out of shape because: A: They think we should help someone "more deserving" B: They're into politics and this somehow ties into their politcal stuff C: They think we should celebrate a different holiday and feel like we're excluding people because it's about Christmas and not something else. D: They don't like Lutherans Here's my response: Dammit, we're doing the best we can. You're right. LOTS of people need help. It just so happens we're helping THESE folks because my wife was born in Ukraine, her grandmother is there right now ...and that poor woman has been through THREE wars and a famine. Natalia's got a cousin in her 20's there ... Her cousin is a mother with a toddler at home ... And that YOUNG MOTHER is in COMBAT on a regular basis... She's just a girl with a little kid... And now she's literally fighting in armed combat on a regular basis. ...So this thing with Ukraine hits home for us. HARD. That's why we chose this particular project. About the political stuff: We don't give a damn about politics. If you were to try to tell us about whatever political issue you're mad about, we wouldn't understand what you're talking about. But we respect your right to have an opinion. ...Would you mind helping some kids while you're at it though? About Lutherans: We aren't Lutheran and we don't know anything about Lutheran theology. But we DO trust this organization (which happens to be a Lutheran Church.) Over the last few months, we've sent a LOT of money (for us, anyway) to them... And we get detailed reports of exactly where it goes and how it is used. They're legit. Regarding Christmas as opposed to other religeous holidays: We celebrate Christmas. If you celebrate something else ...we'd love to celebrate that with you, too. No disrespect intended for any folks who celebrate other holidays. Cool? Cool. Now let's quit making it about US and let's help these kids. You never know. One of 'em might grow up and solve world hunger or something. Here's the Amazon link again: [( P.P.P.S. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ANY MONEY OR TOYS. (Literally the last thing I ever thought I'd put in an email.) The address should already be set up on the Amazon thingy.
