Share the gifts of a camaraderie and discovery with a caregiver today. Support Road Scholar Caregive

Share the gifts of a camaraderie and discovery with a caregiver today. [Road Scholar]( Support Road Scholar Caregiver Grants [Give today]( Dear {NAME}, We know that learning and discovery are an important part of your life. You share those qualities with many caregivers who would love to join us for a Road Scholar learning adventure, but who may find it financially difficult to take this much-needed respite for themselves. As Road Scholar continues to rebuild after the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is critical that we resume financial assistance to ensure that all participants who want to share in the benefits of learning, travel and meeting other likeminded learners can do so. Can you [help us share new discoveries and camaraderie]( with caregivers in need of respite? The pandemic is a particularly difficult time for the more than 43 million Americans who serve as caregivers for loved ones. An emotionally and physically exhausting role is even more demanding — and isolating — as caregivers struggle to keep themselves and their loved ones safe with little access to normal services. Now, imagine you could help one of them by supporting a grant to attend a Road Scholar program, providing a time of rest and rejuvenation, to learn something new and make some new friends along the way. Someone like Barbara T. from Richmond, Va., who has spent the past decade caring for her husband, Larry, who has had dementia and Parkinson's. In late 2019, he had a devastating fall and was still undergoing rehab for hip surgery when the pandemic struck. "The pandemic has been overwhelming. We had to delay crucial doctor's appointments for months, dementia care services were closed for over a year, my daughter couldn't fly out to help me and before we were vaccinated we barely left the house for fear of our health and safety. I worried about what would happen if I caught Covid-19 and needed to be hospitalized. Who would take care of him? Who would take care of us?” says Barbara. The stress of caregiving during a pandemic has been mentally and physically exhausting for Barbara. Knowing she needed respite, Barbara’s daughter encouraged her to apply for a Road Scholar Caregiver Grant. "With my husband's blessing and my daughter's encouragement, I applied for and was accepted for a Caregiver Grant to attend ‘On the Road: Sedona's Red Rock Country and the Grand Canyon.’” says Barbara. “I am a retired science teacher so I am looking forward to learning about the ecology and geology of the canyons. I’m so grateful for this opportunity to take a break from the daily challenges of caregiving and recharge my batteries." Your support can make such a difference to caregivers in need of respite and friendship. We hope that we can count on you. Thank you for being such a valued member of our Road Scholar community! Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
