, I share how to identify if you’re in trouble, and more importantly, how you can start taking

[168 Hours] This week started off with an article from MSN about an NFL player who lives on $60,000 a year thanks to a book he read. It seems more often you hear about NFL players, or athletes in general, who go broke after hitting stardome. In the article, they cite 15% of NFL players end up declaring bankruptcy. It’s a shame, but not surprising, given that financial education is not taught in schools. What else do you expect from a twenty-something who just signed a multi-million-dollar contract who knows nothing about money? Luckily, for this athlete, he was able to beat the odds, through a financial education. My favorite sentence in the article was: “Thanks to the "rich dad" mindset, the rookie started thinking, "How can I never work again? How can I make my NFL money last the rest of my life?" After all, this is what Rich Dad Poor Dad was all about, the first chapter is even titled, The Rich Don’t Work For Money. We have a long way to go, I believe, before we can expect schools to be teaching kids about money. It’s sad really, how much of our nation’s problems could be solved if people knew how money really worked? In my latest blog, [How to Cure Your Bad Money Habits](, I share how to identify if you’re in trouble, and more importantly, how you can start taking steps today to improve your financial position. It’s easy to talk about investing and owning a business, but I understand for many people, that’s not even an option when they’re drowning in debt. That’s why I wanted to share what Kim and I did when we found ourselves broke and living out of our car. For Kim and I, it wasn’t always sailboats and vacations and multiple homes. But when we met, we both established that we wanted to be financially free, and so we worked to get there. For Kim, her passion is real estate. She started with her house in Oregon, and we’ve moved to larger multi-unit properties and golf courses. In her blog this week, she gives [3 Simple Ways to Start Investing Today]( for those who want to be financially free but are great at making excuses for why they can’t get started. There’s a growing divide between investors and the working class. Neither really seem to understand, or even like the other. My guest this week on The [Rich Dad Radio Show]( is author, Joan Williams, who discusses her new book, White Working Class, how this class has emerged as the most influential and misunderstood block of voters in America. You can listen for free on [richdad.com/radio]( or listen on iTunes or Stitcher. This week’s favorite tweet: There you have it, the last 168 hours of my life.
