Cutting back on food waste doesn't have to be difficult. And even though I make a detailed list, I tend to abandon it to let my stomach guide me through the aisles. One of my goals for the rest of the year is to reduce the amount of wasted food in my household, starting with eating a snack before I head out the door so that I don’t pick up as many extra food items. This can increase food insecurity and have a negative impact on the environment. If you want to decrease your contribution to this number, we have a couple of suggestions. The most obvious answer to this is to plan what you need to grab at the grocery store ahead of time and use up what you already have at home before buying more.
