Rev has the scoop on the best movies from the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. [Alternate text] February 2021 There are no small parts, only small captions [Alternate text] So, we *may* have made cameos in more than a few of your festival faves In case you haven’t heard the news, Rev (yes, little ol’ us!) was an official sponsor of the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, which just wrapped up earlier this week. The Sundance Institute made the call to hold this year’s Festival predominantly online, mandating that all Festival entrants and partners caption their films and programming. That meant they needed an accessibility partner, and let’s just say that Rev aced the audition, landed the role, and made our big-screen debut last weekend! That banner up there? With our logo on it? That appeared right before countless Sundance screenings throughout the festival, which was truly a joy to see. By partnering with Rev, the Institute was able to caption over 6,780 minutes of video content and pull off the most accessible and inclusive edition of the Festival ever. We’re incredibly proud to have helped bring this historic event to a wider audience all over the globe. So far, early reviews of our performance are pretty glowing. As one (incredibly charming) customer put it, our Sundance presence was “a very sexy flex.” 😎 [You like us! You really like us!]( But we’re not gonna get a big head about it, alright? So, in case you’re thinking, “Welp, Rev’s gonna go all Hollywood on us and forget their roots,” rest assured that we’re still the same scrappy speech-to-text company you know and love, always ready to meet your caption, transcription, or subtitling needs. Enough about us, though! You probably want to know about the films. You happen to be in luck, because we watched a TON of them. From heartwarming dramedies and prescient documentaries to maybe the most absurd film Nicolas Cage has ever made (like, he spends the entire thing in a leather jumpsuit rigged with explosives), we’ve got the inside scoop on the must-see movies from the Festival. Check out our reviews and top picks! [IT'S SHOWTIME!]( OUR SPEECH RECOGNITION A.I. IS GOING GLOBAL Oh, the Places You'll Rev! Rev.ai, our industry-leading Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) engine, is launching in four new (well, new for us) world languages: French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese. One important thing to note: this technology is for transcription, not translation. Put another way, if you feed Spanish-language audio into the engine, you’ll get a transcript in Spanish. French source material results in French transcripts. German content will yield German transcripts. You get the idea. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
