Conflict and disasters can turn lives upside down — driving millions from their homes, tearing apart families, and destroying livelihoods. From the crisis in the Middle East, to the war in Ukraine, to the crisis in Afghanistan, the IRC is committed to helping people whose lives have been shattered by conflict. [We provide rapid, effective relief that helps families in crisis survive, recover and rebuild their lives.]( CRISIS IN THE MIDDLE EAST The last several weeks have shaken the Middle East and the wider world. Following the work of IRC assessment teams on the ground, and commencement of aid flows from Egypt to Gaza, the IRC is initiating a response to the humanitarian crisis arising from the current conflict. We will be focusing our work on the most urgent needs and in areas where IRC can add most value, using experience and expertise in emergency situations with credible partners — with a focus on health, women's and children's safety, and psychological support. [Read more >>]( UKRAINE Millions of people have been uprooted from their homes in Ukraine and are in need of humanitarian assistance. As temperatures plummet, families — many who have been forced to flee their homes — will likely suffer from intensified barrages of missile strikes and more widespread destruction. The combination of ongoing conflict, destroyed infrastructure, and harsh weather conditions can make life incredibly tough for the people in affected areas. The IRC is focusing our assistance in the areas most heavily affected, together with our partners. [Read more >>]( AFGHANISTAN Families across Afghanistan are reeling from the destruction left in the wake of recent devastating earthquakes. Entire communities have been razed to the ground, leaving behind a trail of destruction and despair. As colder temperatures approach, families are forced to sleep under the open skies, battling harsh conditions, and lack of essential supplies. Families in Afghanistan are relying on the IRC for lifesaving assistance, vital health services, and basic necessities.
