The U.S. must do what it can to welcome all 125k refugees. [International Rescue Committee logo.]( {NAME}, out of 110 million people who have been forced to flee their homes — more than any other time in history — the UN Refugee Agency estimates that nearly 2.4 million individuals have only one option for safely rebuilding their lives: refugee resettlement. Unfortunately, fewer than 1% of refugees will ever be resettled. On September 29, the United States stepped up to the plate by committing to resettling 125,000 refugees this fiscal year. This goal is in line with previous resettlement goals set by the Biden administration and continues the long tradition of the U.S. offering refuge to those fleeing persecution and war. [Will you join the International Rescue Committee in thanking the Biden administration for setting another ambitious refugee goal and challenge them to meet it?]( Refugees have fled crises like the conflicts in Syria and Sudan, the shift in power in Afghanistan, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and violence in Central America. While the Biden administration has already taken numerous steps to rebuild the program after significant and devastating admissions reductions during the previous administration, more must be done to welcome all 125,000 people in need of refuge. [TAKE ACTION »]( Refugee resettlement strengthens our economy, national identity, and global leadership. A robust admissions goal signals that U.S. humanitarian leadership is back and recognizes the power of pairing welcome with opportunity. But this goal is only the first step to the hard work this administration must do to meet it. [I hope you'll join me in emailing the White House today]( to not only thank President Biden, but also to challenge his administration to do everything it can to meet the latest refugee admissions goal.
