How your support helps the IRC respond to climate disasters [International Rescue Committee logo.]( "If this persists, none of us will survive. Droughts are not new to me but to my experience, this is the worst I have ever seen." — Hawo (80 years old), on the drought Somalia faced earlier this year [LEARN MORE »]( {NAME} — Eighty-year-old Hawo knows climate change is not a problem for future generations to solve. The consequences of several failed rainy seasons and the catastrophic drought earlier this year are putting mothers and children at risk in her community in Somalia. "Most of the people here are herders. They have less pasture for their livestock and their animals become weaker and less productive to be able to feed them," Hawo said. Without their source of income to feed them, pregnant and lactating mothers find themselves in a desperate situation as they and their babies suffer from malnutrition. [A mother and child in Somalia]( A mother and child in Somalia. We are providing health care for malnourished children, deploying mobile health teams to reach deeper into hard-hit areas. We are also making cash transfers to help people quickly get the support they need and rehabilitating water sources. [LEARN MORE »]( Your support helps the IRC respond to climate-driven crises in communities like Hawo's and around the world. Here are some of the things your gifts help provide: - Trucked water for families in areas affected by drought or without access to clean water, - Therapeutic food and medical treatment for children suffering from acute malnutrition, - Emergency mobile medical teams that meet people where they are to provide vital treatment and care. Climate change and conflict have put millions of children at greater risk. Reaching these children and delivering the simple, effective relief they need to survive wouldn't be possible without IRC supporters like you. Thank you for doing your part to help bring safety, security, and urgently needed support to more families around the world. — Hank Hank Walter Senior Officer, Supporter Communications International Rescue Committee The International Rescue Committee | [Rescue.org]( 122 East 42nd Street, New York, New York 10168-1289 USA To ensure future delivery of IRC e-mails, please add our reply address updates@rescue.org to your Address Book.
