Your compassion is the fuel that powers this work. {NAME}– Even amid the horrors of war, and in the devastation and grief, families and communities come together to comfort each other. During this painful time in Gaza, compassion and kindness are all the more important. I'm moved to share that during the month of Ramadan, more than 800 IRC supporters like you responded to the suffering in Gaza and other crisis zones with extraordinary generosity. Thanks in part to you, the IRC is working to provide emergency medical treatment and other immediate aid in Gaza—saving lives and helping to hold families together. I can't thank you enough. Throughout Ramadan, many families in Gaza found ways to uphold traditions, breaking fast together at the end of each day and finding small moments of joy. [A family in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, breaks fast together on the first night of Ramadan. Their table is on the ground, surrounded by rubble. All four are smiling.](ttps://www.rescue.org/press-release/why-did-they-have-bomb-my-doll-children-face-mental-health-crisis-gaza-irc-partners?utm_source=pardotmailing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=fy24_gaza&ms=em_apr08a_05EN_gaza_fy24_240416&initialms=em_apr08a_05EN_gaza_fy24_240417&gs=hWWHN9a6XWslsYGu%2B69bA2iUCMyB%2FTc06TzLKja870meZdT9Xui6XzxRVT8VMiYk&utm_content=2024_apr08a_mmusa&af=f4%2Fmad3v6pjEO2n%2B%2BLZpSmTFqQzOeOI9iUTPwgkghv6dR1Yc6jMoKDpRDpY%2FKpXJ5hQcjlVdyYU5CrudLrXh2qn5UKEhqWKEGcY0u%2F26seKq5sNQxcyUZZqwftqWT6s2lQ1MFXoRt5t3C%2F%2BApFkqqy0SGNpWbxHcsxpteG0117H75tjbKG%2Fk%2Fe3tXeyQuM7XeF9bUqy4QbLCaDHKR4y1CA%3D%3D) A family in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, breaks fast together on the first night of Ramadan. Driven from their homes, Palestinians gathered in refugee settlements to hang lanterns and observe Ramadan. The strength and resilience of these communities is inspiring, and we are grateful to you and every IRC supporter who stands in solidarity with them. We also know that the trauma of war will affect children in Gaza for years to come. That’s why the IRC is working with local partners to provide essential mental health and psychosocial support to Palestinian children. [Learn more here.]( This is one of the most impactful parts of our crisis response, and it's only possible through the generosity of IRC supporters. Our activities are designed to empower children to cope with their experiences, express themselves creatively, and develop essential life skills for the future, thereby promoting healing, resilience and emotional wellbeing. After a creative session hosted by the IRC and partners one girl said, "This is the best thing that happened since the war started." The ongoing violence and restrictions on aid in Gaza have made it extraordinarily difficult to deliver the emergency supplies that children and families need to survive. We are overcoming many challenges. But a ceasefire is necessary. The IRC is calling for a ceasefire to protect civilians and allow more lifesaving support to reach those in greatest danger. [You can join the call for a ceasefire in Gaza. Add your name here.]( The IRC will keep doing all we can to save lives and support people in need in Gaza and other crisis zones, and we are committed to helping those affected by war recover physically and emotionally. Your compassion and generosity is the fuel that powers this work.
