We also know that the trauma of war will affect children in Gaza for years to come. That’s why the IRC is working with local partners to provide essential mental health and psychosocial support to Palestinian children. Our activities are designed to empower children to cope with their experiences, express themselves creatively, and develop essential life skills for the future, thereby promoting healing, resilience and emotional wellbeing. The ongoing violence and restrictions on aid in Gaza have made it extraordinarily difficult to deliver the emergency supplies that children and families need to survive. We are overcoming many challenges. But a ceasefire is necessary. The IRC is calling for a ceasefire to protect civilians and allow more lifesaving support to reach those in greatest danger.
