Over the past several years, the Biden administration and the IRS have – - Increased funding by billions over ten years, with more than half of it earmarked for tax enforcement. - Advanced policies and proposals to weaken taxpayers' protections that prevent the IRS from using tax penalties as a “bargaining chip.” - Wanted financial institutions to provide the IRS with information on all accounts with over $600 in gross activity. - Imposed the American Rescue Plan Act's impossible-to-administer $600 threshold for reporting 1099-K transactions. This is a grave warning. The Biden administration has weaponized the IRS to squeeze every dime out of taxpayers to fund his run-away spending packages. Here’s how we are fighting back: The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) is one of the most effective teams on Capitol Hill and in the states that guide our representatives into making fiscally responsible decisions and achieve favorable policy outcomes for taxpayers. [My goal is to raise $20,000 before the end of the month to help NTU push back on revenue grabs from the IRS. Your generous donation will help the National Taxpayers Union protect taxpayers from a weaponized IRS. Instead, the Biden administration has decided to focus more on tax enforcement. This means more IRS agents, audits, and further intrusions into taxpayers' privacy and financial affairs. The enforcement boost was included to pay for the trillions in new spending enacted since Biden took over by reaching deep into the pockets of taxpayers. This is at a time when people are already feeling the effects of Biden’s inflation on their wallets. We are fighting to protect taxpayers from IRS overreach on Capitol Hill so they can keep more of their hard-earned tax dollars. NTU has been a major player in signature taxpayer victories of the past five decades. - We were there when the federal tax code was overhauled under President Reagan in 1986. - We championed the cause for a “Taxpayer Bill of Rights” in the late 80s and 90s. - We were the driving force on Capitol Hill and meeting with White House staff as the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was formed and passed. Most recently, NTU led the push for the Taxpayer First Act, providing critical taxpayer protections when dealing with the IRS. And with your support, NTU can continue to protect taxpayers from the heavy-handed tactics of the IRS. Please click below to donate today.
