[Violent Perry County Attack Leads to Sentencing of 3 Suspects, Trial Dates for Others] [Violent Perry County Attack Leads to Sentencing of 3 Suspects, Trial Dates for Others]( 21-Year-Old Sentenced to 80 Years for Murder of Manual High School Student PEORIA, Ill. - A 21-year-old man, Jeremy Moore Jr., has been sentenced to 80 years in prison for the 2021 murder of 17-year-old Jerry Snipes Jr. The sentencing took place on Friday, as confirmed by the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office. Reportedly, Moore was one of two individuals responsible for the death of Snipes, who was a student at Manual High School. The tragic incident occurred on October 6, 2021, when Snipes was shot 10 times in south Peoria. It is believed that Moore fired the final shot at Snipes using a shotgun. Alongside Moore, two other individuals, Gary Irby III, 21, and Tyranique White, 20, were also arrested in connection with the case. According to prosecutors, Irby III is suspected to have been the other shooter in the incident. Both Moore Jr. and Irby III were tracked to the scene of Snipes' death through ankle monitors that they were wearing at the time. White's alleged involvement in the crime includes driving Snipes to the location where he was killed. Prosecutors claim that White had been in "constant contact" with Irby III and Moore Jr. prior to the shooting. Despite Moore's sentencing, Irby and White are yet to face trial in connection with the case. The tragic loss of Snipes has left a lasting impact on the community, as he is remembered by his teachers for his enthusiasm for learning. It serves as a grim reminder of the devastating effects of senseless violence on young lives in the Peoria area.
