[Mother of Oxford High School Shooting Victim Hails Historic Conviction of Suspect] [Mother of Oxford High School Shooting Victim Hails Historic Conviction of Suspect]( In case you missed it: Mother Jailed for Club Attack, Leaving Victim with Nine-Inch Scar Arbroath, Scotland - Marie Huggan has been sentenced to nine months in jail for attacking Jeanette Irvine at a nightclub, leaving her with severe injuries, including a nine-inch scar across her neck. The incident occurred at De Vito's nightclub, where Huggan struck Irvine on the head with a bottle, causing significant physical and psychological harm. Following the initial assault on Irvine, Huggan proceeded to knock another woman to the floor by punching her in the head and striking her again while she was on the ground. Despite a plea for a community-based sentence on account of being the mother of three young children, Sheriff Paul Brown deemed the offence serious enough to warrant a custodial sentence. The court heard how Huggan lashed out at Irvine after a conversation near the bar, causing serious harm not only to Irvine but to another woman as well. Huggan shouted, "Do you know who I am?" before attacking the victims, leaving Irvine "traumatized" and self-conscious about her neck and jaw scars. Depute fiscal Christine Allan described the series of events, stating that the victims had been socializing and dancing at the nightclub before the altercation, eventually leading to Irvine suffering severe injuries. Subsequent medical examination revealed a 10-to-12-inch cut on Irvine's neck, running from her jaw to her collarbone. Ambulance staff at the scene observed the extent of the injuries and provided necessary medical attention. Huggan, following her arrest, expressed remorse for her actions through her solicitor, acknowledging that she "deserved everything she gets." While acknowledging the troubled circumstances, her conduct resulted in significant harm to the victims, ultimately leading to a custodial sentence, as deemed by the court. The incident at De Vito's nightclub left lasting physical and emotional scars on the victims, prompting the court to uphold Huggan's jail sentence, despite her personal circumstances as a mother of three.
