Kiera McCall, 31, was arrested on June 26, accused of the death of her 1-year-old son, Mathias McCall, who died earlier on June 9. According to police reports, McCall alarmed neighbors by suggesting her baby may have ingested heroin located underneath a bed. This was later contradicted by findings from the Clark County coroner’s office, which certified the young child's death as accidental, resulting from "toxic effects of fentanyl." During her arraignment, Justice of the Peace Amy Chelini did not mince words while addressing McCall, highlighting the grave consequences of her drug use. Chelini stressed the tragic reality that McCall's child died due to fentanyl in his system. Subsequently, the court mandated that if McCall posted bail, she would be confined to her home under stringent conditions. Adding to the gravity of the situation, Chelini ruled that McCall, who is currently eight months pregnant, must avoid any contact with children pending further endorsement from child protective services. Chelini sternly remarked on McCall’s continued danger not only to herself but potentially to others as well. In her defense, McCall's attorney, Tiffany Wacaster, acknowledged her client's severe addiction issues, admitting to her relapse post-rehabilitation, which McCall had entered voluntarily after her son’s death. Despite the tragedy, Wacaster maintained that the child’s death was unintentional and advocated for McCall's release under strict monitoring that included regular drug testing. However, Chief Deputy District Attorney Dena Rinetti called for a higher bail of $100,000, citing additional concerns over McCall's subsequent arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia post the death of her child. Rinetti emphasized the peril of McCall's unresolved drug issues.   [Visit Republican Ballot News]( Republican Ballot News, 70 South West Century Drive, Suite 100 PMB 5102, Bend, OR 97702 Intended for: {EMAIL} [View Online]( | [Terms of Use]( | [Privacy Policy]( | [Unsubscribe from All](
