The fatal shooting occurred after the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm upon exiting a house, as per official statements. The Sacramento Police Department had sought the assistance of the Oakland Police Department in the arrest of a murder suspect. Upon arriving in West Oakland, where the suspect was believed to be, the police officers began to secure the vicinity.
