The cornerstone of our democracy

As we work to build back better, we must acknowledge the ways that student debt perpetuates the racial wealth gap and the role that small businesses can play in closing it. {NAME}, Republicans are waging an all out war against our democracy. Just this year, Republican-controlled legislatures have enacted at least 30 laws in 18 states to restrict voting access. These measures -- which systematically target communities of color and working communities -- are an attack on the cornerstone of our democracy: your right to vote. Republicans want to flip our system upside down so representatives choose their voters, not the other way around. It’s unacceptable. The good news is, we have a solution. The House has already passed the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Together, these two historic bills will protect our democracy for generations to come.
