Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who's now somehow the Democrats' VP nominee, had quite the moment of brilliance on Tuesday when asked what he and Kamala Harris plan to do about skyrocketing costs that are crushing American families. You'd think he'd be prepared for that softball, but nope. Instead of addressing the problem, he fumbled through a laundry list of irrelevant talking points that had nothing to do with the issue at hand. First, Walz told the good folks of Macon, Georgia, that he and Kamala "know something" about financial struggle because, get this, they're "middle class." Really, Tim? Since when do the "middle class" live in taxpayer-funded mansions and jet around on Air Force Two? But sure, tell us more about how you "sit at the table trying to pay the bill." Must be real tough to balance your budget when you're planning to spend more of our money on pie-in-the-sky government projects. [Walz then rambled]( about Harris's plan to build 3 million more affordable homes-because clearly, that's the solution to families barely scraping by at the grocery store. Newsflash, Tim: owning a home isn't exactly on the top of the priority list for people who are trying to afford eggs and gas this month. But hey, it sounds nice on paper, right? And let's not forget his bragging about drug prices, as if President Trump didn't already lead the charge on lowering them. Of course, Biden and Harris love to take credit for that. But while Walz talks about capping costs for seniors, he conveniently ignores the fact that the real inflation beast is devouring everyone else, young and old. "I tell them Kamala Harris and I know something about it being middle-class folks. Our family sit at the table trying to pay the bill. We know coming out of the COVID pandemic with prices where they were, that people need to see some relief," he said. "And I think that's why Kamala Harris has put out a plan - especially around home ownership - making sure we're building 3 million more affordable homes, making sure we're making the down payment assistance there." "Drug prices, especially for seniors, making sure we're keeping a cap on those. That's making a difference," he continued. "And then making sure we're investing in rural communities like the Investment Acts that have created a lot of new jobs in terms of infrastructure and other things. Those are things that we start to get a handle on it," he finished. Reporter: "What do you tell people who wake up each morning wondering 'How am I going to get by financially?'" Timothy Walz: Kamala and I are middle class folks. [pic.twitter.com/uCEs7QfDnZ]( - Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) [September 17, 2024]( Walz's cherry on top was his bizarre claim that Trump wants to slap Americans with a "national sales tax," a classic Democrat lie they've recycled multiple times. In reality, Trump has never proposed such a thing-he's the guy who used tariffs to protect American jobs, tariffs that the Biden-Harris administration still can't seem to figure out. You know, the same tariffs that these Democrats keep whining about but then quietly keep in place because they know they work. If Walz and Harris think affordable homes and infrastructure projects that crawl along at a snail's pace are going to ease the pain of inflation for struggling families, they're even more out of touch than we thought. Maybe they should worry less about empty promises and more about stopping the reckless spending and money printing that got us here in the first place. But that might require them to admit they're wrong-and we all know that's never happening.
