Kathy Hochul signed them into law, a victory that would not have been possible without this grassroots movement. We’re one big step closer to reaching a final congressional map nationwide for this year’s elections. Earlier this month, the Wisconsin Supreme Court declined to hear a challenge to the state's gerrymandered congressional map. This isn’t the result we were hoping for, but the fight for fair maps in the Badger State is far from over. Let’s not forget that Governor Evers signed a new set of state legislative maps into law in February, marking the first time in over a decade that Wisconsin voters will have a fair opportunity to elect a truly representative and responsive state legislature! We’ve shown time and time again that when we organize, we can move the needle together. And last week, we got a glimpse of what happens when you introduce more fairness and representation into our democracy. After a long legal fight that went all the way to the Supreme Court, Alabama finally has a map that complies with Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which requires a map in which Black voters have the opportunity to elect candidates of their choice in two districts. In the first primary election since the new AL-02 district was drawn, voter participation surged. That's why we do this work.
