Across the country, states have considered almost 400 voter suppression bills in 2022. The most extreme measures are often targeted and defeated early on. But those extreme bills also make somewhat less extreme bills seem reasonable by comparison. It's an insidious trick, and a deliberate one: Flood the zone with lots of anti-voting rights bills, and hope one of them sneaks through.
