But it’s also a day for us to reflect on the emotional and intentional work that still needs to be done to make this a country that is truly equitable for Black people. We’re now two years removed from the protests that spread across the world in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. In those two years, we saw the defeat and de-platforming of Donald Trump, but we’ve also seen more failures to achieve justice in the criminal justice system, a rise in hate crimes targeting Black communities, and renewed attempts to shut Black voters out of elections through voter suppression and gerrymandering. This all makes it clear that we should feel an urgency to promote equity and root out hate in this country. Our team at All On The Line believes that systemic racism is real and prevalent in America. It pervades our communities, workplaces, and government. We’re taking a moment of reflection this Juneteenth to think intentionally about the part that each of us can play to not just say, but demonstrate, that Black Lives Matter.
