Why do you make music? Is it to become a rockstar? The next Freddie Mercury? Is it to sell out stadiums across the world and to have your face on newspapers and magazines? For some people, that’s their motivation. I know that was mine for a while as a teenager! But when I hear back from students of the Recording Revolution… that’s not always the reason why people join my courses. Instead, it’s a schoolteacher in Los Angeles who’s got a long commute every day, and music is his escape from work and he just wants to make better recordings at home. Or it’s an entrepreneur from Orlando, Florida who wants to get back into making songs from his home studio, but doesn’t know how to use Pro Tools well. Maybe it’s a mother who’s decided to stop wishing that she could make music, and she's decided to learn how to make music as a hobby when the kids are at gymnastics class. And she’s joined a course so she can learn how to make great music from a simple home studio. Or it’s a singer-songwriter who’s always wanted to record and mix her songs into something she can share online but lacks the knowledge and tools to do so. Or it’s a retired veteran who’s picked up a dusty old acoustic guitar, and wants to give Johnny Cash a run for his money… so he’s bought a secondhand SM58 microphone and audio interface and he’s trying to figure out how to use it! And through Recording Revolution courses - these students finally get recording & mixing under their belt... and making great music from their home studios becomes easy and effortless for them. Simple success stories like that warm my heart. And they’re success stories to me, because these are everyday people putting their heart and soul into their music, and making something happen. And that’s who I’m thinking of when I create a new video tutorial or a new course. I’m thinking about that kid in college who’s staying up at night recording his guitar tracks on a cheap home studio setup and rushing to his morning classes fresh out of bed. I’m thinking about the housewife who loves taking care of her family but has a few songs she’s written with a piano that she’d love to record and mix into something more. And most importantly, I’m thinking… “How can I teach people recording and mixing so it becomes easy and intuitive for them, so they can focus on making even more music?” You see, making music isn't just recording and mixing. There’s multiple parts to the process. There’s the songwriting. There’s the arranging and producing. There’s the recording & mixing, ending off with mastering. But it’s so easy for us to get caught in a loop where we’re only focused on one part of the process. Maybe it’s just writing lyrics down but never picking up an instrument to put them into a song. Or maybe it’s trying to get the perfect microphone setup for your recordings. As a result, we forget about the other parts of the process. And while you don't need to be amazing at all the various music skills… if you get too caught up in one part, no music comes out as a result. So when I put together a workshop or a course, my goal is simple: to give you everything you need to make that specific step of the music-making process intuitive and easy. Because when you learn a skill in music, you don’t need to relearn it ever again! Yes, occasionally you might need to learn something new - but like riding a bike, it’s just a few shaky pedals and you’ve got it back. If you can sing a high A… even if you didn’t sing for a couple of months, you’ll be able to nail it after warming up a bit. If you can write a song… even if you haven’t written a song in ages, that skill is still there to be used. And with recording or mixing, once you learn the fundamentals, you’re off to the races. Once you learn how to use a microphone properly, it doesn’t matter whether you’re in a big fancy studio, or in your bedroom - the same principles apply. Once you know how to mix a raw set of tracks into a Radio-Ready Song, it doesn’t matter whether you’re doing it surrounded by racks of studio gear and mixing consoles, or if you’re just using your own laptop - you’ll be able to get a great song from your mix. And that’s why I’m offering you a 50% discount off my flagship, all-comprehensive mixing course, Mixing University. I don’t want you struggling with mixing any longer. I don’t want you to have to spend countless hours searching online for the right tip or trick to fix your mix. Instead, I want mixing to become easy and intuitive for you. I want you to be able to record your music and know that you’ve got the skills to turn your mix into a Radio-Ready Song. And I teach this inside Mixing University - from setting up your home studio for mixing success, to the steps you need to take with your mixes every single time. But that’s not all. Inside Mixing University, I then walk you through mixing real-life songs in various genres. Whether you’re more into acoustic pop tracks, or into heavy rock or electronic music, it’s all inside. You’ll also be able to jump right to the parts that are most relevant to you easily - I’ve structured the entire course into bite-sized chunks. If you’ve mixed your own music before... Mixing University will give you all you’ll need to make mixing something fun and easy, while making Radio-Ready Songs in the process. Effort that you could spend thinking of how to write your next song or the sound you want to have in your music.
