It falls on 25 April each year, the date on which Anzac soldiers landed on the Gallipoli peninsula in 1915 and suffered heavy casualties. It is a day on which we commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our beautiful country. Ceremonies take place around the country and we have 1 minute silence to remember. Sprigs of rosemary - a plant that grows wild on the Gallipoli peninsula - are worn as a symbol of this day.
