Even if you've never heard of them before, you will know you're going to love them - Plump little Italian spinach ricotta dumplings, baked on a bed of tomato Napoli Sauce, finished with a dusting of parmesan. Greetings from Tasmania!! Technically "overseas" albeit still in Australia, this is just the 2nd time I've been on a plane since COVID hit 18 months ago. Such a novelty these days!! Dozer, as always, was extremely unhappy at the sight of the suitcase. And of course, I miss him terribly - but he's here with me in spirit,, on my face mask…😂 So what am I doing down here, you ask? DARK MOFO! It's an annual music, art and food festival in Tasmania that celebrates dark and ancient pagan rituals. It's weird and wonderful, captivating and just SO COOL! Dark MOFO is everywhere you go, and it seems every alleyway you look up has something Dark MOFO related, whether it's a wall of graffiti art or a secret doorway into a cool pop up bar, live music or a seemingly innocent looking door that leads into a giant warehouse with a light installation "event" / art (I don't know how to describe it, it was just fascinating!). Of course, for me personally, the big draw card was the food. And I have to say, it is one of the best food and booze event I have ever been to in my life. It's all about local produce, and believe me, Tasmania has the BEST produce in Australia, with much of it cooked outdoors over fire. There's everything from cheese to BBQ octopus, Korean burritos to empanadas, exceptional prime rib and grilled scallops. YES, I HAD IT ALL!!! But beyond the food, the vibe of Dark Mofo is just so great. Think - dark nights and red lights, fire and smoke. Lots of people watching to be done, and it's an event for everybody, from the kids to the elderly. Suffice to say, there's a lot of eating to being done. So I'm really trying to make sure I get out and about to burn some calories. There's some hiking on the cards in the coming days - I'm here for 10 days on a big food trail. But until I get out of Hobart, I'll have to make do with the city streets - singing in the rain!!!
