Sleep is annoying…. Helloooo everyone! It's been almost a week since I last sent you an email so I thought I'd send you an email just to share what I've been up to! I haven't been cooking up a storm, creating new recipes like I usually do. Minimising grocery runs, staying at home and all that stuff that is what we now call Life. I WILL be getting back to more of my usual routine later this week (yes, new recipes COMING!!), but right now, I'm concentrating my time on getting the "[Shout A Meal]( project set up. I feel a great sense of responsibility to ensure that donations made by generous souls are used quickly and fairly for the stated purpose, so I have been focussing my time on that. On that topic - UPDATE!!! 6 days into the fundraiser $32,000 raised 400 meals and 2,000 Hot Cross Buns delivered. And that's in addition to 1,500 muffins and coffees donated by Dozer🐶 in the previous week! The biggest challenge The biggest challenge has been co ordinating with hospitals, and getting restaurants / caterers approved before commencing delivery. Hospitals are large, complicated organisations, and the protocol for safety around COVID-19 is constantly changing, is different for each hospital - and getting tighter, with good reason. So we keep on top of the changes every day, we get updates on how the high-work level wards are going, and NSW Health tell us which hospitals are "getting smashed" that are in need of some TLC. Supporting local businesses With one of the objectives of this project being to put some much needed revenue back into our hospitality industry, most of the time I spent on this project over the long weekend was finding and vetting local restaurants. But I'm finding that the reality is going to be that hospitals have food and COVID specific safety standards that not all small family run businesses will be able to meet. To find potential businesses to participate in the program, I've found the best way is to join neighbourhood Facebook groups and sending requests out to local newspaper to put out call outs like THIS on their Facebook pages! ⬇⬇⬇ It's working! I emphasise the word "PAID" because everyone assumes that fundraiser = request for donations of free food. But vetting them is time consuming. Which is why sleep is very annoying at the moment! I need more hours in the day! But I know I need to stay healthy because I will be no good to anyone if I get sick. So I keep up my ginger loaded green smoothie every day, I get out and exercise (well, I walk. Dozer runs). I have catch ups with friends online - snacks and wine mandatory. And I do actually sleep. (A bit 😉) And last, but not least…. To everyone who donated, especially those who don't even live in Sydney, to everyone who left kind words of support. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I myself have not experienced first hand the joy and appreciation of our health workers with each and every delivery you've made possible because I'm you know, STAYING AT HOME, doing all this from my keyboard. But I hear the stories from the people delivering the food and it makes my day, every time. Thank you for making it possible. Please stay safe. And keep on smiling! - Nagi x Giving back to our Healthcare Heroes With their focus on patients and the long hours they're working, too many healthcare workers are literally too exhausted to cook and resort to fast food. Those who try are faced with empty supermarket shelves by the time their shift finishes. I want to recognise the hard work and bravery of these men and women, and thank them but providing much needed nourishing meals. [Read what I'm planning >>]( [>> Click here to Shout a meal to a SYDNEY frontliner <<]( 100% of proceeds raised go to local businesses to prepare meals for Sydney healthcare workers in the frontline of the COVID-19 crisis. No administrative or overhead costs will be withdrawn, these will be at my own cost. Now - FOOD!! Simple Soups to nourish your soul. And I promise you, I will be back with new recipes later this week!! [Shortcut Creamy Corn Chowder]( Possibly goes down in history as the world's laziest soup! [Pumpkin Soup]( World's best, super simple creamy vegetable soup. [Fish Chowder]( Any fish - frozen or fresh or canned. Creamy soup broth, tender vegetables = WIN! [Lentil Soup]( Find out why so many people actually get excited when they plan LENTIL SOUP for dinner tonight... Life of Dozer There were no eggs for Dozer this year. His entire Treat Budget for the month got donated to the [Fundraiser]( And he was totally ok with that. Because no eggs meant no fluffy bunny ears for a photo 🐰😂 [View this email in your browser]( Copyright © 2020 RecipeTin Eats, All rights reserved. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
