Meet Steve Maxwell and learn how to maintain your septic system yourself. [The Family Handyman DIY University] Hi Friend, learn how to to keep your septic system working optimally—YOURSELF! [Septic System Workshop] PREMIUM ONLINE WORKSHOP Fix and Maintain Your Septic System Yourself Design, maintain & fix your septic system—in 3 weeks! [LEARN MORE]( Do you live in fear that your septic system will fail when professional help is too far away? Take matters into your own hands! This course will teach you how to maintain your system to a high standard beyond just regular tank pump outages. You’ll learn how septic systems work, why they typically fail, and what you can do about it...Yourself. We visited with course instructor Steve Maxwell about this [Septic System Workshop]( and he revealed the septic disaster that made him realize he needed to learn how to fix and maintain his own septic system. Now he's teaching us everything he learned along the way. Here's what he had to say: What is your history with septic? Has your knowledge ever helped you out of a septic disaster? June 17, 2011 is the day I became aware of my own septic system failure. That’s when I decided to lift the access hatches on my septic tank to find out why there were faint whiffs of sewage in my yard. What I saw was ugly and alarming. Raw sewage was 12" above the top of my septic tank. That’s at least 18” higher than the level should have been. White scum was floating on the sewage as it sat way above the lid of the concrete tank. I couldn’t even see the lid any more for all the brown water. To make matters worse, the next day I had a whole van load of work colleagues coming for a week-long work session at my rural house. I refused to give in right away and have a new system installed, even though a professional septic guy assured me there was no hope. I did a lot of research, tried quite a few things that didn’t work, and in the end I’ve found and enjoyed complete success. My hopelessly clogged system has been working flawlessly since the summer of 2014. The approach I took also means that I can maintain my leaching bed so it probably won’t ever come to a clog again. Why does someone need to take this online course? This course is for anyone who relies on a septic system and wants the skills to fix it inexpensively when the leaching bed clogs and stops working. The information and skills can be used to fix a septic system in crisis or as preventative maintenance to keep your system working well. Regular tank pumpouts aren’t always enough. How do you see your interaction with learners? I love teaching people who are enthusiastic about hands-on self-reliant living like I am. I look forward to getting to know each learner who reaches out to me with questions and comments about the septic system revival techniques featured in this course. The methods described here come from my own hands-on experience and the experience of other homeowners who have revived their own failed septic systems. [Steve Maxwell] Expert Steve Maxwell—who lives on a 90-acre rural island homestead in Canada—has been teaching people how to become self-reliant for more than 30 years. He is an award-winning how-to building instructor, carpenter, and home builder who has developed multiple articles, courses, videos and teaching seminars. This three-part premium online workshop runs from November 1st, 2018 – November 29th, 2018.
